STEWARDSHIP, BIBLICAL FOUNDATIONS
  • 16 And we ourselves know and believe the love
    which God has for us.
  • God is love, and whoever lives in love
lives in union with God and God lives in union
with him. 17 Love is made perfect in us in
order that we may have courage on Judgement Day
and we will have it because our life in this
world is the same as Christs. 18 There is no
fear in love perfect love drives out all fear.
So then, love has not been made perfect in anyone
who is afraid, because fear has to do with
    punishment.
  • We love because God first loved us. John 416b-19

STEWARDSHIP According to Jesus
  • 17 Do not think that I have come to do away
with the Law of Moses and the teachings of the
prophets. I have not come to do away with them,
but to make their teachings come true. 18
Remember that as long as heaven and earth last,
not the least point nor the smallest detail of
the Law will be done away with not until the
end of all things. 19 So then, whoever disobeys
even the least important of the commandments and
teachers others to do the same, will be least in
the Kingdom of heaven. On the other hand,
whoever obeys the Law and teaches others to do
the same, will be great in the Kingdom of heaven.
20 I tell you, then, that you will be able to
enter the Kingdom of heaven only if you are more
faithful than the teachers of the Law and the
Pharisees in doing what God requires. Matt.

STEWARDSHIP THE MASTERS CONCERNS
  • 19 After a long time the master of those
servants came back and settled accounts with
them. 20 The servant who had received five
thousand coins came in and handed over the other
five thousand. You gave me five thousand coins,
sir, he said. Look! Here are another five
thousand that I have earned. 21 Well done, you
good and faithful servant! said his master.
You have been faithful in managing small
amounts, so I will put in you in charge of large
amounts. Come on in and share my happiness!
  • 22 Then the servant who had been given two
thousand coins came in and said, You gave me two
thousand coins sir, Look! Here are another two
thousand that I have earned. 23 Well done,
you good and faithful servant! said his master.
You have been faithful in managing small
amounts, so I will put you in charge of large
amounts. Come on in and share my happiness!
  • 24 Then the servant who had received one
thousand coins came in and said, Sir, I know you
are a hard man you reap harvests where you did
not sow, and you gather crops where you did not
scatter seed. 25 I was afraid, so I went off and
hid your money in the ground. Look! Here is
    what belongs to you.
  • 26 You bad and lazy servant! his master said.
You knew, did you, that I reap harvests where I
did not sow, and gather crops where I did not
scatter seed? ... useless servant throw him
outside in the darkness Mat. 2519-26

STEWARDSHIP GOSPEL OF LIFE
  • Gods gift of life
  • 1 In the past you were spiritually dead because
of your disobedience and sins. 2 At that time you
followed the worlds evil way you obeyed the
ruler of the spiritual powers in space, the
spirit who now controls the people who disobey
God. 3 Actually all of us were like them and
lived according to our natural desires, doing
whatever suited the wishes of our own bodies and
minds. In our natural condition we, like
everyone else, were destined to suffer Gods
    anger.
  • 4 But Gods mercy is so abundant, and his love
for us is so great, 5 that while we were
spiritually dead in our disobedience he brought
us to life with Christ. It is by Gods grace
that you have been saved. 6 In our union with
Christ Jesus he raised us up with him to rule
with him in the heavenly world. 7 He did this to
demonstrate for all time to come the
extraordinary greatness of his grace in the love
he showed us in Christ Jesus.
  • 8-9 For it is by Gods grace that you have been
saved through faith. It is not the result of
your own efforts, but Gods gift, so that no one
can boast about it. 10 God has made us what we
are, and in our union with Christ Jesus he has
created us for a life of good deeds, which he has
already prepared for us to do. Eph. 21-10

STEWARDSHIP
22
STEWARDSHIP URGENCY AND DILIGENCE
  • 45 Who, then, is a faithful and wise servant?
He is the one that his master has placed in
charge of other servants to give them their food
at the proper time. 46 How happy that servant is
if his master finds him doing this when he comes
home! 47 Indeed, I tell you, the master will
put that servant in charge of all his property.
48 But if he is a bad servant, he will tell
himself that his master will not come back for a
long time, 49 and he will begin to beat his
fellow-servants and to eat and drink with
drunkards. 50 Then that servants master will
come back one day when the servant does not
expect him and at a time he does not know. 51The
master will cut him in pieces and make him share
the fate of the hypocrites. There he will cry
and grind his teeth. Mat. 45-51

THE STEWARDS HYMN
  • When I survey the wondrous cross
  • On which the prince of glory died,
  • My richest gain I count but loss
  • And pour contempt on all my pride.

STEWARDSHIP
51
  • Stewardship begins in the worship of God so
also at the close of our study we worship, as
worship is part of our stewardship.
  • 1 I love the Lord, because he hears me he
listens to my prayers. 2 He listens to me every
    time I call to him
  • 12 What can I offer the Lord for all his goodness
to me? 13 I will bring a wine-offering to the
Lord, to thank him for saving me. 14 In the
assembly of all his people I will give him what I
have promised. 15 How painful is it to the Lord
when one of his people dies! 16 I am your
servant, Lord I serve you, just as my mother
did. You have saved me from death. 17 I will
give you a sacrifice of thanksgiving and offer my
prayer to you. 18-19 In the assembly of all your
people, in the sanctuary of your Temple in
Jerusalem, I will give you what I have promised,
    Praise the Lord. (Psalm 116 1-2 12-19)

STEWARDSHIP
52
PRAYER
  • Teach me O Lord, my God to serve you worthily in
every part of my life, so that in all parts I
grow in you, and through your power make me an
effective steward of the Holy Gospel throughout
my life, so that others may find you in me and
consecrate their lives in your service, Amen.
