What is a Podcast?
  • The word podcast derives from combining the terms
    iPod and broadcasting
  • A podcast in the simplest terms is a merger
    between blogging and the radio.
  • A radio program that you can make from a
    computer, a microphone, free software, and a
    website to post your podcast!

  • Compose and share what you have learned about the
    text
  • Practice your oral presentation skills
  • Learn how your classmates interpreted the text
  • Show me what you have learned about Harper Lees
    To Kill a Mockingbird

Your Task.
  • Your task will be to create your own podcast
  • You can create your podcast about anything
    relating to Harper Lees, To Kill a Mockingbird
  • Themes
  • Characters
  • Motifs
  • Historical Background
  • Your podcast needs to be 15 minutes long and
    needs to contain the following

  • Create a podcast thats 15 minutes long with your
    To Kill a Mockingbird cooperative learning
    groups.
  • You will need to produce
  • A final podcast
  • A final outline
  • A final script
  • Your podcast needs to contain 3 quotes pertinent
    to your topic
  • You need to support your podcast topic with
    textual evidence

  • Convert the Format
  • Create XML Code
  • Publish

Plan and Record
  • This is the MOST important step!
  • Pick a topic
  • Decide what you want to talk about. What part of
    the book is of your biggest interest?
  • Write your script
  • Just like writing an essay, you need to have an
    outline and a rough draft of what you are
    planning on saying!
  • Record your podcast
  • Sign up to record your podcast when we are in the
    library next week

Convert the Format
  • Everything you record will have to be converted
    to an .mp3 file to work on iTunes
  • Heres how to convert
  • Download iTunes
  • You may use your personal iTunes account for this
  • Drag your podcast into iTunes and tag it
  • To TAG click the podcast, press CTRL I
  • Add your name and other details to the podcast

  • Many people who arent in this class would need
    to download one of these programsbut youre
    lucky
  • Go onto Podcast Maker (already downloaded on the
    computer) and it will automatically code your
    file into an RSS feed.

Publish!
  • Upload your podcast onto my website
    http//www.edfolio.fdu.edu/barbarichd
  • After uploading, go back to your iTunes and click
    Submit a Podcast which is found on the Podcasts
    page
  • Copy and past the URL from my website
