He is on the payroll of our business rival... Our hands are clear. We will come out clear from these allegations. Our records are straight,” Ravindram Duraiswami, advocate for VV Mineral told NDTV.
As per some reports, the thorium deposit on the coasts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala have seen depletion over the last few years. A raid was conducted by a team of special inspection officers at the mining site of VV Minerals in the Tuticorin district. However, the officials did not find any proof to hold VV Minerals, Vaikundarajan guilty of any crime. S. Vaikundarajan came out clean from this case after all the investigation were carried out.
An interim stay has been granted by the Madurai bench of the Madras High Court on its single judge order of 28th October. This has worked in the favour of V. V. Minerals, said to be the country's largest manufacturer and exporter of garnet and ilmenite. The commissioner of Excise duty won’t be able to collect Rs. 76.67 crore from the company, as Central Excise from 2011 to 2014. The Commissioner challenged this move by filing a writ appeal before the division bench of Justices V Ramasubramanian and N Kirubakaran.

The Court instructed the Bureau to issue the memo again. VV Mineral India, founded by Vaikundarajan in 1989, will have to resubmit its draft scheme for beach sand mining.. VV Minerals issued a statement saying that it had complied with all requirements to be fulfilled for submission of mining scheme. However, there were objections raised by the bureau. Furthermore, the Bureau did not allow the scheme alleging that the companies failed to remove all the defects in the draft scheme, when it was re-submitted in January, 2014.

The Madras High Court addressed by Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice TS Sivagnanam set aside an order quashing the rejection of mining scheme of one of the leading mining companies VV Minerals and Transworld Garnet India.
