HomotoxicologyHistory and Principles
presented by Maureen Horne-Paul N.D.
20
Homotoxicology defined
  • A continuation of homeopathic theory and practice
in light of the medical advances of recent
    decades
  • all manifestations of life depend on the
conversion of chemical compounds according to
    well-defined laws

20
21
Homotoxicology
  • Is a reconciliation between homeopathy and
    science
  • uses scientific terms
  • allows for solid clinical reasoning
  • uses remedies based on their cellular and
    biological actions
  • attempts to give not only symptomatic relief but
also to treat the cause of disease

21
22
Goal of Homotoxicological Therapy
  • To activate the organic defense mechanisms
within the body, in order to stimulate the body
    to heal itself

22
23
Principles
  • Diseases are the expression of the defensive
effort of the organism against toxins, in its
attempt to counteract and expel them
  • Every organism attempts to maintain homeostasis

23
24
  • Conventional treatment
  • suppression and inhibition of organic phenomenon
  • block or transform body processes with chemical
    substances
  • Homotoxicological treatment
  • activation of the organic defense mechanisms
  • restoration of abnormal, disrupted function

24
25
Table of Homotoxicosis
  • Follows progression and regression of diseases
  • guide to selection of appropriate remedies
  • diseases and symptoms are arranged horizontally
  • affected tissues arranges vertically and grouped
    according to embryonic origin

26
TISSUES ANDTISSUE PHASES

system, heart, membranes that line the
    pericardium, the pleura the peritoneum

34
Table of homotoxicosis
  • According to Dr. H.H. Reckeweg, diseases are
classified in a chart consisting of 6 phases
which allow to follow the regression or
    progression of a disease
  • The phases of sickness, recognized by their
symptoms are presented in the following chart

35
Homotoxins
  • Homeopathy decreases the length of the
    pathological process
  • The symptoms of a sickness appear under a
    condensed form
  • The decisive factors in a disease are called
    homotoxins

36
Homotoxins (...)
  • They are absorbed by the organism in the form of
    food, air, etc.
  • They can also come from the organism after a
toxic attack by certain enzymatic cells
  • In general, they can be eliminated by an
    inflammatory phenomenon

37
Homotoxins ()
  • Chemical substances that affect the organism in
    accordance with chemical laws
  • Vicariation effect homotoxins that do not
completely disappear in certain parts of the
body, but that become active in other parts of
    the organism

38
Homotoxins ()
  • Certain chemical toxins such as mercurius,
arsenic, phosphorus, lead, etc... can induce
    detoxification phenomenons of the organism
  • The pharmacological synthesis agents can
sometimes become homotoxins, when ingested in
    large quantities

39
Homotoxins ()
  • Secondary effects progressive vicariation in
    the table of homotoxicosis
  • Homotoxones biological process of large
importance. Non-toxic compound formed by the
    association of two homotoxins (detoxification
form taking place in the liver and the connective
    tissues)

40
Homotoxin

  • 2) Degeneration
  • 3) Neoplasm

44
Table of Homotoxicosis ()
  • After passing the biological division -the
biological cut located between the humoral phases
and the cellular phases, the cellular damages
make it more difficult for the healing process to
    start

45
EXCRETION PHASE
  • Most effective physiological reaction
  • Healthy enzyme activity
  • No damage by homotoxins

46
Humoral phases 1. Excretion phase
  • Most efficient physiological reaction. The
enzymatic activity is in good health
  • The homotoxins have not yet damaged the organism
  • The organism eliminates the toxins through the
    physiological emunctors
  • The toxins are not yet in contact with the
epithelial cells of the mucous membranes

47
Humoral phases 1. Excretion phase ()
  • Favorable prognosis
  • Strategies
  • Homeopathic constitutional treatment (unique
    remedies, nosodes)
  • Reduce the intake of toxins nutrition
  • Engystol if needed to accelerate the excretion
    mechanisms

48
REACTION PHASE
  • Expulsion of toxins
  • Production of acute symptoms
  • Discharges

49
Humoral phases 2. Reaction phase ()
  • During this phase, the organism expulses the
    toxins which have penetrated it
  • During this phase, the defense mechanisms are
    active and efficient
  • Most spectacular phase of the illness
  • Eliminates the toxins through pus, mucus, skin
    eruptions, etc...

50
Humoral phases 2. Reaction phase - Therapeutic
strategies

    tissues

54
Humoral phases 3. Deposition phase
  • The toxins are not expelled but inactivated and
    accumulated in the connective tissue
  • This phase takes place more rapidly if we are in
the presence of a homeopathic terrain of sycosis
  • Example of a deposition illness
  • Warts, atheromas, polypus, biliary or renal
    stones, gout, prostatic hypertrophy, articular
    rheumatism, exostosis, etc...

55
Humoral phases 3. Deposition phase ()
  • Appropriate nutrition or even a period of fasting
are indicated to limit toxin absorption
  • When the elimination mechanisms of the toxins are
overburdened, the toxins cause damages to the
    internal organs

56
Humoral phases 3. Deposition phase ()
  • Therapeutic strategy
  • Every available means is used to prevent the
illness from going through the biological
    division

  • Macroscopic structure cells of the organ are
    altered
  • Continuous cellular stimulation caused by the
accumulation of toxins in the tissues

67
Cellular phases 5. Degeneration phase ()
  • The chronic inflammatory stimulation of the cells
    triggers their modification, their
    non-differentiation, their weakening and damages
    the organic defense mechanisms
  • The exhaustion of the defense mechanisms
(inflammation) leads to the proliferation of
    abnormal cells

68
Cellular phases 5. Degeneration phase ()
  • The body attempts to maintain life by massive
elimination of the homotoxins (pus, mucus,
    glycosuria, etc.)

    specific area

74
Neoplasm phases
  • Characterized by the alteration of the cell and
by the loss of control of the organism on the
    cellular development
  • The organism is overcome by the toxic effect of
    the homotoxins
  • The carcinotoxins damage the genes and the
    cellular enzymes

75
Neoplasm phases (...)
  • The body accumulates and localizes the homotoxins
in a specific area cancer, sarcomas, etc.
  • The speed of the progression of the neoplasy is
correlated with the proper functioning of the
    physiological emunctors
  • Certain remedies will be administered in the hope
of reducing the replication cell capacity

82
Processes Influencedby Homotoxins
  • Excretory processes
  • Deposition processes
  • Degenerative processes

83
Vicariation
  • Progressive vicariation
  • Movement on the table downwards and to the right
  • Deterioration of illness to a deeper level
  • Regressive vicariation
  • Movement on the table upwards and to the left
  • Improvement towards health and equilibrium

84
Vicariation ()
Biological Division
85
Progressive vicariation
  • The consequence of suppressive therapy
(allopathy) leads to what is known in
homotoxicology as progressive vicariation of the
illness. This term applies to any deterioration,
characterized on the six-phase table as a
movement to the right and downwards. Progressive
vicariation causes deeper tissues to become
involved and results in a poorer prognosis.

86
Regressive vicariation
  • A shift to the left and upwards on the six-phase
table, towards equilibrium and health, is termed
    regressive vicariation. The goal of
antihomotoxic treatment is the promotion of
    regressive vicariation.

87
Goals of Anti-homotoxic Treatment
  • Prevent the introduction of homotoxins
  • Eliminate existing homotoxins

88

  • Jocelyn is a 50 year old man that had a
nephrolithisis crisis 2 weeks ago. He did not
like the feeling and wants to make sure this will
    not happen again.
  • In general, his health is good except for a few
dermatological problems. About 3 months ago, his
eczema became worse and his doctor prescribed a
new brand of cortisone cream. His skin
    significantly improved.
