Last month saw the launch of Foundations for the
Future management development programme. This has
the aim of developing management skills and
leadership talent across NHS South Central. It is
a really flexible programme which has been
devised to meet the requirements of managers who
wish to study for recognised qualifications. It
is primarily distance learning offered by the
University of Reading to suit the needs of
learners, but with support.   The first year is
the pilot phase of this programme. During this
pilot phase, the Institute of Healthcare
Management is kindly meeting the costs of
supplying the learning materials for a total of
120 modules. And the SHA will be funding through
two hubs (Basingstoke North Hampshire NHS
Foundation Trust and Royal Berkshire NHS
Foundation Trust) the costs of the course fees
and other associated costs for learners
throughout South Central, and managers from every
NHS organisation in South Central are eligible to
apply. Learners have the opportunity to study for
one or two modules during this period, and there
will be no cost to learners over this pilot phase
for those who apply soon. The first module is on
"Managing your enterprise" - for which studies
start on 2 June.
