What is a dye sensitized solar cell?
  • It is a kind of battery that derives its energy
    from the light energy received from the lamp
    or.... the sun!

What does a dye sensitized solar cell consist of?
  • A dye sensitized solar cell consists of two
    conducting glass electrodes
  • electrode (1) is coated with a thin layer of
    titanium dioxide stained with the dye which
    produces electrons by photo excitation
  • electrode (2) is coated with graphite carbon
    layer which helps the transfer of electrons
    through the iodide electrolyte back to electrode
    (1)
  • in a sandwich arrangement with an iodide
    electrolyte.
