The Ways We Hear Intervals
  • Interval
  • The distance between two pitches.
  • There are two ways we hear intervals in music.
    The two notes that make up the interval either
    happen at the same time, or they happen one after
    the other.

  • Melodic Interval An interval where two notes
    sound one after the other.
  • Harmonic Interval An interval where two notes
    sound together.

The Major Scale
  • To spell a Major scale we use two intervals
  • The Half Step (m2)
  • The Whole Step (M2)
  • BOTH of these intervals are 2nds

The Half Step (m2)
  • A half step is when you go from one note to the
    VERY NEXT note.

The Whole Step (M2)
  • A whole step is when you skip the very next note
    from a note and play the next one.
