CRITERIA FOR SELECTION
  • Students who have just completed 10th std (SSLC)
    from Government/Private schools.
  • Students who have secured 80 (With few
    exceptions).
  • Students coming from Below Poverty Line
    families(Urban and Rural).
  • Students opting government colleges because of
    their economical constraints.
  • Single parent/Orphan family having no support.

SELECTION PROCESS
  • Applications are received from the needy
    students.
  • Every student is screened to assess their need
    and interest.
  • Eligible students are called for an entrance
    test on the basis of 10th std syllabus.
  • Aggregate of 50 marks is considered from both
    entrance and 10th std marks. The student who have
    accomplished the required criteria, home visits
    are planned for selection. (few exception)
  • During home visit interaction will be done with
    their family members and assess their socio
    economic conditions.
  • The student who fulfils all the above criteria,
    will be called for counseling along with their
    parents.

UPDATES (April 2011 to FEBRUARY 2012)

Student Selection Process
  • We started college visits from 28th to 29th of
    June 2011 for students selection.
  • We received 172 applications and directly (self)
    11 students gave application for support.
  • For these students we conducted entrance test on
    30th June and 1st July 2011.
  • Totally 140 students had attended the entrance
    test.
  • We visited 65 students house for further
    processing with the help of MSW students.
  • We did individual parents meeting/counseling
    with the help of Project director and Samastha
    team from 21st to 23rd July (35 students their
    parents)
  • Observation period for newly selected students
  • Out of 35students 31 students were regular to the
    center and senior students handled seminars for
    them. On the basis of seminar, the students were
    given tests and as well as feedback on the same.
    Also we assess their interest, regularity,
    commitment and academic performances.

  • All students are know and follow the SVYM core
    values.
  • Maintain punctuality and be regular to center.
  • Actively involve with all programmes.
  • Seminar for students is made compulsory.
  • Everyone will be take responsibilities like
    class, library, seminar and programme leader.
  • All students are monitored to upgrade their
    academic performances.
  • Peer learning is encouraged on particular
    topics/subject are given to students.
  • To maintain friendly and cordial relationship
    among all students (senior junior).
  • All students have responsibility of maintain and
    protecting organization assets as well as public
    property

21.05.2011 Usage of e-mail ID This session was organized to make the students aware of usage of the E-mail and ID . created e-mail ID for all students . 32 students attended it .
29.05.2011 Career Guidance Counseling Skill tests were given to those who have passed 2nd PUC to check their interest in various courses . As per their interest suggestions were given by Ms.Mamatha and Mr. Tavi Kumar. 10 students attended it.
22.06.2011 Interaction with senior students Senior students sharing their experiences and difficulties during their II PUC. From this activity, present II PUC students got information on how they cope with stress and motivated to concentrate on their studies. 32 students participated.

23.06.2011 Vivekananda Express We visited Vivekananda Express- train was part of 150th birthday of Swami Vivekananda. Here students got information on Vivekanandas life and thoughts. 34 students participated.
05.07.2011 Management Fest Participated and counseling done in the programme at V LEAD on 5th July. Here our two students got 7 prizes (each) in quiz. 3 senior students attended it.
At least Once in a month Pick and Speak/Debate To improve the speaking skills of students . This activities are conducted on every 15 days or availability of students.
At least Once in a month Concentration Game To check the students concentration and involvement with respect to the given subject.
At least Once in a month Quiz/Cross-word game To improve the general knowledge of the students.

10.09.2011 Teachers day Our students celebrated Teachers day at CAVA College. Entire programme was done by the students. Lecturers shared about their favorite teachers. Students organized games for entertainment to lecturers. Lecturers expressed their appreciation to all students, staffs and organization for giving wonderful experiences. End of the programme sweets and snacks was distributed. 77 students 06 lecturers attended.

15.09.11 Engineers Day Debate on Reservation for woman Students recalled the memory of Sir.M.Vishveshwariahs his work efficiency and punctuality. Two groups were formed for debate on the issue of reservation for woman was effectively discussed. 71 students attended.
03.10.11 National Festivals Celebrated Gandhi Jayanthi, Lal Bahudur Shastri Jayanthi and Valmiki Jayanthi. We recalled their life style, thoughts and sacrifice for the nation. 66 students attended.
10.10.11 Visit to Science Exhibition Natural Science Museum We visited, Science Exhibition organized by Mysore Medical College on 10th October. 60 students visited. We visited, Natural Science Museum. Students observed structure of human body, insects and animals. History of human age.....

22.10.11 Motivational class Mr. Harish Gudari, a staff from Prema Vidya project, took class on way for good academic performances and personality development. He educated the students by giving case studies and through games. 58 students actively participated. We appreciated 04 II PUC students for their good academic performances during this year on the same occasion.
19.11.11 Celebrated Kannada Rajyothsava, Kanakadasa Jayanthi, Childrens day STAR OF VIDYA KIRAN On this occasion we rewarded 10 students as STAR OF VIDYA KIRAN for their excellent leadership for maintaining Library , class room and organizing seminar, programme. We also rewarded to their creativity, initiative and responsibilities. 67 students attended.

26.11.11 Exposure visit Students were taken out for an exposure visit to historical places such as Srirangapattana, Daria Doulat, Gumbaz, Melkote, Karigatta and Krishna Raja Sagara dam. Students shared information with each other and enjoyed lot. 63 students attended.
28.11.11 Motivational class Mr. Nagaraj, Administrator of Prema Vidya project, interacted with our students about their goal and academic performances. After the discussion with students he discussed with the staff about operational issues and next year plans.. 60 students attended.

12.01.2012 150th birthday of Swami Vivekananda and Yuva Payana On this occasion jatha was taken out on the main streets of Mysore city till DH office by raising slogans of Swamiji. In jatha more than 350 students including parents and staffs had participated. The stage programme was completely led by our students from anchoring to vote of thanks. Varshacharane a special activity for staff, was inaugurated in the memory of Swami Vivekananda on his 150th birthday. VIVEKA YOUNG MINDS senior students association was inaugurated. Local donors and volunteers were felicitated on the occasion. Mr. Pratap Kumar Simha, Proprietor of Hotel Indra Bhavan, he has provided mid-day meal to the needy students. Another volunteer Mr. Dorei Krishnana retired scientist (specialized in Physics) he is taking free English class to our students.

Pratibha Puraskar and cash prize of Rs.1000/- (to each students) was given to 07 students who scored distinction (85) in II PUC exams (02 special prizes) and our biology lecturer Mrs. Nandini B.T. rewarded to four students for their best academic performances in Biology. Students shared their experiences in Vidya Kiran SVYM. The cultural performance was given by the students.
26.01.2012 Republic day We participated republic day, organized in V LEAD. students involved in quiz programme and they gave cultural performance on the stage. 45 students were attended.
11.02.2012 Interaction Mr. Sudharshan .S. Director Academics Programs, V LEAD interacted with students about their academic performances and growth on 11th of Feb 2012.

    April 2011 to our students.
  • 2. Bridge Course for Current II PUC Students
  • We introduced bridge course with the initiative
    of our senior students to slow learners and who
    scored below 65 in their I PUC.
  • 3. Observation Period for Newly Selected Student
  • 4. Small Social Project
  • This year we are initiating small social project
    concept to the students. The idea behind the
    programme, is students use their leisure time to
    involve in social and community awareness.

CHALLENGES SOLUTIONS

1 College timings The boys college timings changed from 2pm to 3.30pm which affected our regular coaching class timings. Rescheduled coaching class timings from 3.45pm to 6.30pm.
2 Poor performances in class tests (Some students) Asses their problems by counseling and arrange extra teaching/guidance from their peers. Discuss the matter with their parents. Provide motivation to the students by giving instance of their peers.
3 Drop out Regular follow up through phone, house visit and motivation by their peers and lecturers.
4 Wrong information during the house visit by the selected students. Discussion with student and their parents. Analyze the details of documents provided by them.
