Chapter 10Meanwhile at Jacks Camp
  • Describe Jacks camp. What must visitors do when
    they approach?
  • They must stop at the entrance to Castle Rock
    The chief said we got to challenge everyone
    Halt, who goes there?
  • Jack has jammed a log under the topmost rock. Any
    boy could easily send the rock thundering down on
    an enemy. Roger approves of this move saying,
    Hes a proper chief, isnt he?

  • Roger received this news that Jack was beating
    Wilfred as an illumination . . . assimilating
    the possibilities of irresponsible authority.

Why does Jack decide to whip Wilfred?

    on the lookout for the beast and guard Castle
    Rock.
  • Jack--So the watchers at the gate must be
    careful. . And then, the beast might try to come
    in. You remember how he crawled-
  • Stanley But didnt we, didnt we-?
  • Jack No!. . .No! How could we killit?. . .I
    expect the beast disguised itself.

  • A To continue to control the boys through their
    fear of the beast. Simon wanted to tell the boys
    the truth about the beast(enlightenment) but Jack
    wants to keep the boys in the dark.

  • 5A. Jack orders his hunters to always sacrifice
    the head of their kills to the beast.

    because they are so few and Piggy will not help
    with the physical labor.
