Title: Liquid Leak Detection/Location Systems for piping, raised floors, semiconductor tools, containment piping, fuel systems and other applications

1
  • Liquid Leak Detection/Location Systems for
    piping, raised floors, semiconductor tools,
containment piping, fuel systems and other
    applications

2
Company Profile
  • PermAlert is part of Perma-Pipe the largest
    prefabricated preinsulated pipe manufacturer in
    the US
  • PAL-AT Leak Detection was introduced in 1988 and
was the reason for founding PermAlert ESP
  • Sales Volume of the parent corporation (MFRI) is
about US 178 million with over 500 employees
    worldwide

  • Worked for York Air Conditioning
  • MBA from TCU
  • Hydro-Air, Inc. a manufacturers rep
  • PermAlert ESP
  • Projects Social Security, VISA, IBM, Intel,
AMD, HP, Exodus, Digital Island, US West, Nuclear
    Power Plants, DOE

PAL-AT Cable Systems and LiquidWatch Probe
Systems
  • PAL-AT uses coaxial cables and probes to monitor
for liquid leakage. The system can detect and
locate leaks, breaks and shorts on the sensor
cable as well as probe activations.
  • LiquidWatch is a probe monitoring system and can
monitor up to 64 probes from a single panel. The
probes are monitored for activation, breaks and
    shorts.

5
Time Domain ReflectometryPAL-AT
  • TDR is a cable measuring technology related to
sonar and radar. By sending energy pulses down
the center conductor of a coaxial cable and
measuring the reflected energy to the outer braid
a map can be stored of the cable and monitored
for change. When change occurs the type of alarm
and its location is displayed on the panel.

PAL-AT Panels
  • AT20C - Monitoring up to 2,000 (600 m) on a
    single cable
  • AT50C - Monitoring up to 5,000 (1500 m)
equivalent length on a single cable
  • AT20K - Monitoring up to 7,500 (2500 m)
equivalent length per cable with a maximum of two
    cables
  • AT40K - Monitoring up to 5,000 (1500m)
equivalent length per cable with a maximum of
    eight cables
  • AT80K - Monitoring up to 7,500 (2500 m)
equivalent length per cable with a maximum of
    eight cables

17
Types of CablePAL-AT
  • AGW Gold Sensor cable for use in containment
    piping, trenches, trays
  • and subfloors
  • AGT Gold Sensor cable for use
    in subfloors and trays. More
    sensitive than AGW
  • TFH Sensor cable for detecting hydrocarbons
and solvents while ignoring water TFH
  • TFH

18
Types of ProbesPAL-AT and LiquidWatch
  • PHL/PWS Solid state probes for hydrocarbon and
    conductive liquids
  • PSTV/PTHL/PFS Float switches for high/low level
  • PT10 (PAL-AT) Probe integrators and PA-10
(LiquidWatch) Probe Adaptors for dry contacts

19
LiquidWatch
  • LiquidWatch has two basic panels. The LW64 is
for use in normal classified probe locations
while the LW64IS provides a UL Listed System for
    monitoring in Class 1, Division 1 Groups C D
locations. The basic panel monitors up to eight
probes with modules being added for additional
    probe requirements.

20
Applications
  • Raised Floors - Data Centers, ISPs, Clean Rooms
    Telecommunication, Semiconductor, Office Bldgs
    Pharmaceutical
  • Piping - Containment piping, single wall piping,
    hydrocarbon piping, waste drains
  • Trenches and Trays - Under wet benches, piping
    and equipment
  • Generators, Electrical Switch Gear and
Transformers for hydrocarbon leakage or water
    seepage
  • What ever needs liquid leakage detection that a
probe or sensor cable can be used

Palcom SoftwarePAL-AT and LiquidWatch
  • Palcom allows remote control of up to 254 panels
with the ability to review TDR traces, review the
history of each unit and to pull down a Cad
drawing for each system for location of leaks,
    breaks, shorts or probe activation's.
