WHAT IS ANGER?
  • A strong feeling of annoyance, displeasure, or
    hostility.
  • Anger is an emotion related to one's
    psychological interpretation of having been
    offended, wronged, or denied. Often it indicates
    when one's basic boundaries are violated.
  • Anger is a strong feeling of displeasure and
    belligerence aroused by wrath, etc
  • Anger could also be described as acrimony,
    animosity, annoyance etc

  • Anger can be defined as emotional response to a
    goal, a value or expectation. It is a violent
    emotion of painful nature, sometimes arising
    spontaneously upon just occasion, but usually
    characterized in the Bible as a great sin. Eph.
    426.

  • 19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man
    be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath
  • 20 For the wrath of man worketh not the
    righteousness of God.

Text Review James 119 -20
  • Anger and righteousness are mutually exclusive.
  • Being slow to speak may look as if one does not
    know what to say but in actual fact, it is not.
    The one who is slow to speak will avoid errors,
    sin, anger and idle words. V. 20
  • One way to bridle our tongues and tame our temper
    (s) is through being slow to speak V. 19

  • Imploding it is an act of caving in or breaking
    down as a result of external pressure. Ecc 79

    shouting and violence.

Principles of taming your temper
  • Admit you are angry
  • Note that GODS anger last but for a moment and
    HIS favour is forever.
  • Understand your anger
  • When you are hurt.
  • When you are frustrated.
  • When you are threatened.
  • Can anger solve any of the 3 situations (a-c)
    stated
  • above? Whether no or yes, be slow to speak and
  • trust GOD for the right utterance.

  • Resolve your anger quickly. Eph. 426 27
  • Dont le the sun go down on your anger.
  • Resolve issue, with your brother who provoked
    you.
  • Have a second look at the situation.
  • Dont sleep on your anger.
  • Let GOD have HIS way. It is wise.
