to run. - flood indicates excess or profusion a sink
stagnant water remaining after an inundation

- asotia dissolute
- anachusis overflowing or pouring out
- Alford a state of moral degradation or
spiritual dejection into which one sinks or from
which one cannot free one's self.

(prodigal son) - run means to keep in company with, as in a troop
- What kind of speaking evil (of you, us) is this?
- To speak reproachfully, rail at, revile,
blaspheme - 1 Cor 412,13 - And we labor, working with our
own hands. Being reviled, we bless being
persecuted, we endure being defamed, we entreat.
We have been made as the filth of the world, the
off scouring of all things until now. - I Peter 45 - They will give an account to Him
who is ready to judge the living and the dead. - Notice the verb tenses here
- will give future, active, indicative (one day
whenever) - Him who is present, active (always ready)
- to judge aorist, active (once, and at any time)
- How will they give an account or plead their case
to Him who is ready?

- Here indicates an explanation
- And how will a gracious God respond?
- Why the living (zao) and the dead (nekros)?
- This relates to the time of His coming.

- 1 Tim 56 - But she who lives in pleasure is dead
while she lives. - the dead
- Mal 313-15 - Your words have been stout against
me, saith the Lord. Yet ye say, What have we

- When persecution in the name of the Lord Jesus
Christ was expected. - dead physically or spiritually a great debate
exists here? - Physically is best (see v.5) and the verb
interpreted as once preached - A second chance?
- Heb 927 - And as it is appointed for men to die
once, but after this the judgment, - that they might be judged according to men in the
flesh, but live according to God in the spirit

- Judgment of believers by unbelievers or of
unbelievers by God another controversy? - By the Gentiles who walked in lewdness, lusts,
drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and
abominable idolatries (v.3) persecution - Wuest These Christians were judged with
respect to the flesh, that is, with respect to
their earthly existence in the body. - 1 Pet 414 - If you are reproached for the name
of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of
glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He
is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified - 1 Cor 1132 - But when we are judged, we are
chastened by the Lord, that we may not be
condemned with the world. - live present, active, subjunctive
- On earth or in heaven another debated topic?
- 1 Pet 417 - For the time has come for judgment
to begin at the house of God and if it begins
with us first, what will be the end of those who
do not obey the gospel of God? - John 658 - This is the bread which came down
from heaven, not as your fathers ate the manna,
and are dead. He who eats this bread lives
forever - Either way you win!
