group - No food or drinks or popping gum
- No email, searching, or playing regular

games..Interactive math websites only - Try to improve
- Bring pencil and paper and your calculator or you

can use the one on the computer.

- Pre-test on Monday..Post-test on Friday
- Score on Pre-test will determine what we help you

with - Either Mean, Median, Mode and Range or

Probability - Make sure you record your scores on both tests on

your paper - Hope you get some Math MOOVES ticketsGood luck

Mode

Mean

Range

Median

WHAT DO THEY ALL MEAN?

Mean

- Is the average of a set of numbers.

How is the mean of a set of numbers found?

- Add all the numbers in the set together.
- Divide the sum by the number of numbers in the

set. - The quotient is the mean of the set of numbers.
- Example 20, 15, 25
- Add 20152560
- Divide 60 by 3
- The mean is 20

Median

- Is the number that is in the middle of a set of

numbers. - (If two numbers make up the middle of a set of

numbers then the median is the average of those

two numbers.)

How is the median of a set of numbers found?

- Arrange the numbers in the set in order from

least to greatest. - The middle number is the median of a set of

numbers. - If more than one number is in the middle of the

set of numbers, the average of those two numbers

is the median of the set of numbers.

- Examples
- 10, 15, 20
- 15 is the median of this set of numbers.
- 10, 15, 20, 25
- Add 15 20 35
- Divide 35 by 2 17.5
- The median of this set of numbers is 17.5

Mode

- Is the number in a set of numbers that occurs the

most often.

How do I identify the mode of a set of numbers?

- Arrange the set of numbers in order from least to

greatest. - The number that occurs the most often is the mode

of that set of numbers.

- Example
- 10, 15, 10, 15, 20, 25, 15, 30
- 10, 10, 15, 15, 15, 20, 25, 30
- 15 is the mode of this set of numbers because it

is the numbers that occurs the most.

Range

- Is the difference between the highest and lowest

numbers in a set of numbers.

How is the range of a set of numbers identified?

- Arrange the numbers in the set in order from

least to greatest. - Subtract the lowest number from the highest

number in the set of numbers. - The difference of the two numbers is the range of

a set of numbers.

- Example
- 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50
- 50 10 40
- 40 is the range of this set of numbers.

Its Time To Practice!

- 10 5 25 50 15 10 40 35 10 20
- 5 10 10 10 15 20 25 35 40 50
- What is the mean?
- The answer is 10.
- What is the median?
- The answer is 17.5
- What is the mode?
- The answer is 10.
- What is the range?
- The answer is 45.
