Problems with the Articles

• Two problems were

  whole country)
• Too much power to the states.

The result . . .

• Make it WEAK!
• Articles of Confederation
• Only one house in Congress.
• Each state had one vote in Congress.
• No executive or judicial branch.

Achievements

• Successfully lead war against Britain.
• Negotiated the Treaty of Paris.
• Made states recognize each other.
• Northwest Ordinance
• Organize government then apply for statehood.
• Guaranteed rights and freedoms.

Problems for Congress

• No money and no way to get it.
• No power over the states.
• Ignored rules and trade agreements
• No protection from discrimination.
• No protection from unfair competition.
