Story Summary
  • Leslie is a newcomer to rural Virginia and
Jesses life. Not sure about each other at
first, they discover they have a lot in common
and develop a rich friendship. Together Leslie

  • A major theme of this book is friendship.
  • If you had a special secret, whom would you
    trust with it?
  • Do you now have or have you ever had a special
friendship? How did you meet and become friends
    with this person?

5
Friendship Chains
  • What makes a good friend?
  • Work with your partner to come up with qualities
that you think make a good friend.
  • Write your responses on the friendship chains
that you will create. (I will show you how to do
    this)
  • We will share these responses and display our
    friendship chains in the classroom.
