    variation and tweaking.

    up? With the Band? Separate? Where?

Marching Drills/Warm Up
  • 8 to 5s, or 6s or halfs (with variations - Slow
    motion, points, horns up/down, sequences, mark
    times)
  • Example Sequence ( MT 8, FM 8, MT 8, FM 12, MT 8,
    FM 16, Close)
  • Box Drills (MT 4, FM 8, RS 8, BM 8, LS 8, Repeat
    or Close)
  • ALWAYS HAVE A SYSTEM OF DRESSING

Music Warm Up
  • Concert Band Approach?
  • Breathing! - What are good exercises? Steal from
    the Breathing Gym(Pilafian/Sheridan).
  • Think about ways to achieve good tone,
    flexibility, articulations, dynamic levels.
  • Metronome Use?
  • Chorales are a good idea - Purpose.
  • Have a system for Intonation.
  • Have it written out and practiced. Establish Good
    Habits. Ears and Brain are important!
