Title: The Reformation

1
The Reformation
  • A 16th century religious movement marked
ultimately by rejection or modification of some
Roman Catholic doctrine and practice and
    establishment of the protestant churches.

2
Church during the first 300 years
  • At first the Home Church was the standard. And
the letters of the Apostles were copied and
shared from place to place thus giving these
believers the word of God. These early
Christians were made up of both jewish and
    gentile believers.

3
The Roman Church
  • Romanists claim that there church began with the
coming of the Holy Spirit in 33A.D. In Fact
protestants believe the same date. The difference
is that we dont see popery, indulgences, prayers
to Mary and the Saints, the Rosary, The Mass, or
Purgatory in the Protestant Bible. Some Catholics
claim that the Apocrypha supports some of their
    doings.

4
From within..
  • from your own church, men will arise perverting
the truth to draw the disciples away after them.
    (Acts 2030)

5
Example from the Apocrypha
  • In 2 Machabees (another spelling) 1243-46, we
have the reference cited by the Catholic Church
to support Purgatory. If one would read verses 40
through 46, he would learn that God killed these
people because of idolatry. According to
Catholicism, if you die in the state of mortal
sin, which idolatry is, you'll go straight to
Hell when you die! Therefore, according to
Catholic doctrine, Judas Machabeus was WRONG in
suggesting that the people should "pray for the
dead, that they may be loosed from sins" (verse
    46)!
  • For a person to believe in the doctrine of
Purgatory, he/she would have to be totally
misinformed about the Biblical doctrines of the
    Atonement, Redemption and even Salvation.
Purgatory infers works for salvation, a
soul-damning and devilish teaching. Augustine said
, "there are some who have departed this life,
not so bad as to be deemed unworthy of mercy, nor
so good as to be entitled to immediate
happiness."(8) This statement infers works for
salvation which is refuted by Eph. 28,9 Titus
    35 Rom. 44-6 and 2 Tim. 19. Consequently, one
can therefore conclude that Augustine was NOT a
Christian, but instead a minister and servant of
    Satan, 2 Cor. 1113-15!

6
Defining the office of Apostle
  • An Apostle of Christ had to have seen the
    resurrected Christ. (Acts 121-26)
  • An Apostle of Christ must have his ministry
validated by signs and wonders. 2 Corinthians
    1211-12
  • Paul was chosen by God himself to be the last
    Apostle. (1 Corinthians 158)
  • Apostolic succession carried on by popery is not
    biblical!

7
A warning from Christ.
  • Wherefore if they shall say unto you , Behold, He
is in the desert go not forth behold, He is in
the secret chambers believe it not. Matthew
    2426.
  • Conclusion The physical presence of Jesus will
not be seen until His second coming. So how could
anyone claim to have seen Jesus and thus be
qualified to be an Apostle in later centuries?
How could Jesus Christ be bodily present in the
    eucharistic wafer as well?

8
From your own midst
  • Read (Acts 2028-31)

9
Historians vary on how many.
  • IF you research the number of protestants
murdered by the mother church, after Luthers
time, you will find it varies from 100,000 up to
100 million. One researcher went to the trouble
to do statistics using birthrates, and all
possible death rates other than those caused by
the inquisition and came up with the (50 to 100
million) number still needed to account for
population growth and death rates. All of this is
    debatable of course.

10
The Jesuits
  • The Jesuits were formed in the 16th century to
    manage a counterreformation.
  • Christians were burned at the stake for such
things as reading or attempting to translate the
    Bible into their language.
