El verbo estar

• Estar is an irregular verb.
• It means to be in English.
• It does NOT follow the pattern of regular ar
  verbs.
• You MUST remember the conjugations of the verb!
• When writing, make sure to include the accent
  mark over all the forms except the yo and
  nosotros forms.

• I am We are
• You are
• He They are
• She is
• It

• Yo estoy Nosotros estamos
• Nosotras
• Tú estás
• Ud. Uds. están
• Él está Ellos
• Ella Ellas
• Notice the required accent marks.

USES OF ESTAR

• Estar is used
• To describe the location of someone or
• something.
• Examples
• Samantha está en la clase de inglés.
• Samantha is in English class.
• Los libros están encima de la mesa.
• The books are on top of the table.

• To tell how someone feels or the condition of
  
• something.
• Examples
• Claudia está enferma.
• Claudia is sick.
• Esteban y tú están ocupados.
• Esteban and you are busy.
