Disclaimer
  • Although students have the opportunity to take
the exam in order to get the diploma of their
choice, the classroom approach is NOT to teach by
    the test.
  • In both Medical French and Business French, the
    teaching approach is content-based.
  • The focus is on learning how to perform tasks in
a special field (medicine or business) in a
    francophone environment.
  • The focus is also on learning the cultural
differences inherent to the professions in health
and in business between the USA and France or
    other francophone countries.

Feedback from one alumnus
  • I am currently working for Loews Hotels, and I
use my French skills every day. Taking French for
Business was a smart choice for me, because I
learned how to speak and write in more formal
business settings. Whether I am emailing one of
our properties or speaking on the phone with a
client, I find myself calling upon the skills I
picked up in our class. Our guest speakers in
FREN204 gave me a deeper understanding of
differences between the American and European
business climates. Learning all that I did about
French business etiquette and office culture
allows my interactions with Frenchmen and with
Canadians to be much more professional. I think
my CCIP diploma may have even helped me land this
job! I would recommend French for Business to
every French majorit really helped me apply my
    degree to my corporate ambitions.
