Priorities for Improvement
  • To increase the percentage of students who are
    confident and capable of solving grade level
    mathematical problems.
  • Use the four step problem solving method when
    completing mathematical problems.
  • Discussions to enable students to view learning
    as a process rather than destination
  • Use common assessments from Thompson Nelsons
    Prime to flag initial students for RTI

  • Provide intervention in identified areas as they
    arise based on specific curricular concepts
  •  Personalization of learning through the use of
    assistive technology (smart board) to allow
    students to articulate their understanding in a
    greater variety of ways.
  •  Using multiple modes of sharing and
    communicating of mathematical understanding and
    making students view challenges as part of the
    learning process.

  • Nickle met or exceeded provincial results at the
    excellence level in 4 out of 8 PATs.
  • Standard of excellence levels declined slightly
    from previous years.
  • Nickle special education students met or exceeded
    provincial results at the acceptable level on 6
    out of 8 PATs.
  • Nickle ELL students met or exceeded provincial
    results at the acceptable level on 5 out of 8
    PATs.

Overall Trends
  1. Grade 6 results were strong again!
  2. Special Education and ESL students performed
    better than the province in most cases.
  3. Grade 9 results saw improvements in excellence
    from previous year in all 4 subjects
