Foundation Questions
  • Foundation questions are what is questions.
(Students need to become familiar with the
features of the different types of questioning,
this way they can align question with job.)
  • Derived from the essential question, are framed
    by students.
  • They provide a factual foundation from which
the answer to the essential question can be
    developed.
  • The number and sophistication of questions is
directly dependent on the age and skill level of
    the student.
  • They provide structure to the investigation so
that students know what they need to research.
  • Their answers will be integrated into a response
    to the essential question.
  • Teachers monitor and provide feedback to students
on the relevance and quality of their questions.
(good questioning needs to be modelled for
    students)
