Title: Soil in the Atlantic Region

1
Soil in the Atlantic Region
  • Mariam Soliman, Sara Jones, and Emily Kocsis

2
Soil
  • Soil is a huge part in the Atlantic region
because there public relies on the soil to give
them business (for planting, animals etc.)
  • The soil in the Atlantic region is medium because
of the large bodies of water there leaching tends
    to happen to the soil

3
Types of Soil
  • In basically all the areas of the Atlantic close
to the water the soil is leached
  • The soil is also poorly drained
  • In most areas the soil is a grey-brownish
colour, that lacks the nutrients it needs on the
    topsoil

4
Types of Soil
  • In the Newfoundland Area, the type of soil is
    peat and podzolic
  • In P.E.I most of the soil is leached, in need of
fertilizers, although it has a reputation of
growing vegetables such as potatoes that are in
    need to good soil
  • In New Brunswick, the soil is alluvial, which is
    often poorly drained
  • Finally, in Nova Scotia the soil is podzol grew
    brown transition

5
Conclusion
  • In conclusion, it is to be expected that the soil
is heavily leached in the Atlantic region,
considering that all the provinces border water
  • Planting, farming still happen there but they
need to use fertilizers to give the plants and
the soil the nutrients it needs
