What is non verbal communication ?
  • Non verbal communication is when we interact
with other people with out give or receive any
    words.

4
Types of non verbal communication
  • Facial expressions The facial expressions like
happiness, sadness, anger, surprise, fear, and
disgust (are the same across cultures.)
  • Body movements and posture This type of
    nonverbal communication includes your posture,
    bearing, stance, and subtle movements.
  • Gestures When we use our hands when we are
    speaking, expressing ourselves often without
    thinking.
  • Eye contact The way you look at someone can
    communicate many things, including interest,
    affection, hostility, or attraction.

5
Types of non verbal communication
  • Touch Like handshake, a hit on the shoulder, a
    hug etc.
  • Space We all have a need for physical space,
although that need differs depending on the
culture, the situation, and the closeness of the
    relationship.
  • Voice We communicate with our voices, even when
we are not using words. Nonverbal speech sounds
such as tone, volume, rhythm, and rate are
    important communication elements.

6
Why non verbal communication is important ?
  • Nonverbal communication skills improve
    relationships by helping you
  • 1.Understand others people emotions (what theyre
feeling and the unspoken messages theyre
    sending).
  • 2. Create trust in relationships by sending
nonverbal signals that match up with your words.
  • 3. Respond with nonverbal communication show to
others that you understand, notice, and care.
