GHSGT MATH
  • QUICK REVIEW

PYTHAGOREANS THEOREM
Remember use only in a right triangle.

a² b² c²
C is always opposite of the right angle.
3
Examples
Remember If you are looking for c, add.
If you are given c, subtract.
The last step is always take the square root.
4
Angles
Complementary angles 2 angles that add up to 90
Supplementary angles 2 angles that add up to
180
m?3 m?4 180
m?1 m?2 90

PARALLEL AND PERPENDICULAR LINES
Parallel lines never cross and they have the same
slope.
Perpendicular lines intersect to form right
angles and slopes are opposite reciprocals.
7
TYPES OF ANGLES
  • Acute angle measure is less than 90
  • Right angle measure equals 90
  • Obtuse angle measure is between 90 and 180
  • Straight angle measure equals 180
  • ( a straight angle is a line)

8
TYPES OF TRIANGLES
  • CLASSIFY BY SIDES
  • Scalene no sides equal
  • Isosceles two sides equal
  • Equilateral all sides equal
  • CLASSIFY BY ANGLES
  • Acute three acute angles
  • Right one right angle
  • Obtuse one obtuse angle
  • Equiangular all angles equal

9
STATISTICS
  • Mean average
  • Median middle number
  • (put numbers in order first)
  • Mode number that occurs most often
  • Range largest number smallest number

10
PERCENT
A percent must be multiplied by a number. 25
of 60 means .25 (60) 15

IS OF 100
11
  • Perimeter distance around the outside
  • ( add up all the sides)
  • Area space the figure covers
  • (formulas are given)
  • Volume amount needed to fill a shape
  • (formulas are given)
