Types of Parents -Activity 1

GIFT -Is a legal procedure Fewer moral obligations as GIFT occurs in the fallopian tubes Fallopian tubes play the same role as in natural conception so the embryo goes later into the uterus than IVF Increase chance of full term pregnancy

Social Parents- Activity 1 continued
Social Parenting Legal Implications Social Implications
Adoptive Child no longer part of biological family Full rights and responsibilities Allows others to share their love Fearful of telling child theyre adopted Sense of identity
Foster dont have a legal say e.g. education and health Seen as different Better able to have needs met Feel that they are not wanted Social outcast
Step Parent Has no legal rights Doesnt have to provide financial support 2 parent family more adults to care for them Offer different perspectives for life
Surrogacy no legal rights over the child (only birth mother) Surrogate mother cant enforce the agreement if prospective parents back out Emotional joy of caring for a child that you couldnt conceive yourself Might change mind
