Meet the Artist Maxfield Parrish

• Born in Philadelphia in 1870. He lived to be 96
  years old and painted until he was 91 years old!
• He began drawing very young and he was very good!
• He illustrated magazine covers and childrens
  books.
• Best known for his use of colors especially
  Parrish-Blue used in his skies.
• Known as the Master of Make Believe

What we will be doing

• Sketch a landscape that tells about where we
  live. (Add details that are unique to Arizona)
• Plan your drawing so all of the space is used on
  your paper!
• Use your oil pastels to add color to your
  picture. Try mixing colors and coloring dark and
  lightly. Be careful because the oil pastels
  smudge easily! ?
• Title your artwork and be sure to sign your
  paper!
