What will my child learn in English II?
  • Your child will continue to increase and refine
    his or her reading and communication skills while
    focusing on the concept of culture and community
    and examining how these influences shape identity
    and perspective.
  • Your child will read and analyze works of world
    literature, with emphasis on analysis of how
    stylistic choices and rhetorical elements share
    tone in persuasive and argumentative texts.

What will my child learn in English III?
  • Your child will continue to increase and refine
    his or her reading and communication skills.
  • Your child will read a broad range of American
    literature and write frequently in a variety of
    forms.
  • Your child will focus on developing critical
    thinking skills, writing and reading skills
    necessary for success.
  • Your child will also build vocabulary and learn
    elements of grammar, usage and style.

Expectations
  • Students must come to class each day ready to
    interact respectfully with one another and with
    the teacher.
  • Students must be prepared for class.
  • Students must communicate proactively with the
    teacher.

Additional Novels for English II III
  • Students may be asked to purchase additional
    novels throughout the school year.
  • However, both students and parents will receive
    adequate advanced notice of any required books
    titles

Late work
  • I do NOT accept late work of any kind daily,
    quiz or major grades.

Make-Up Work
  • Student will be allowed one school day for every
    school day missed, plus one additional day, to
    make up work or tests (per the CHHS
    Student/Parent Handbook).
  • If students submit all make-up work on time, they
    have the opportunity to receive full credit.

When do I get a progress report?
  • Consult Skyward Family Access once a week to keep
    track of grades.
  • All students will receive a progress report three
    weeks into the six weeks grading period.
