WHY DID LIFE CHANGE SO MUCH IN THE 1920S? HOW
DIDN'T CHANGE?
  • In the 1920s world war 1was over and research and
development propelled the U.S into the age of
modern technology. The first washing machine was
built in and advertised 1927. Radio and TV's
became more common and advances in transportation
and communication also took place. this
progression let the middle class become more
involved. They could purchase cars, radios, and
home appliances. ( Mcdougal, Change In The 1920s

WHAT IS THE ROARING 20'S?
  • The 1920s were an age of dramatic social and
political change. For the first time, more
Americans lived in cities than on farms. The
nations total wealth more than doubled between
1920 and 1929, and this economic growth swept
many Americans into an affluent but unfamiliar
    consumer society.

  • Instead of shooting for equality, in the  1920's
the american dreamm wass to get rich fast as you
can and live the fun free life. And since people
arent striving for equality, there is still alot
    of discrimination. lthttp//www.ovtg.de/3_arbeit/en

WHAT DOES THE ROARING 20S HAVE TO DO WITH OUR
BOOK?
  • The reckless jubilance that led to decadent
parties and wild jazz musicepitomized in The
Great Gatsby by the opulent parties that Gatsby
    throws every Saturday nightresulted ultimately
in the corruption of the American dream, as the
unrestrained desire for money and pleasure
    surpassed more noble goals.

7
WHERE DID THE CONCEPT OF THE AMERICAN DREAM
GENERATE?
  • The first idea of the "american dream" was
thought up y the writers of the declaration of
independence. When they wrote it they added that
""All man are created equal and that they are all
endowed with certain unalienable rights, among
whih are life, liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness." This was the original American dream
before it was warped by the people of the 1920's.

8
HOW IS THE AMERICAN DREAM TODAY DIFFERENT THAN IN
THE 1920S?
  • The American Dream isn't any different, but the
way to achieve it is. Back then, it was work
ethic and labor, whereas now, people except
things to be given to them without earning it.
