Quotations

• Quotations tell us a great deal of information
  about different characters within texts.
• We should use quotations when writing about texts
  in order to support what we are saying.
• Quotations can be used as evidence in order to
  describe a characters feelings, attitudes,
  actions and so on.

Quotations

• In essays, you will be expected to use quotations
  in order to support and further your opinions.
• In exams, you will be expected to remember
  quotations from texts and write them correctly.
• You must never write a quote and not explain it
  as you will be marked down. If you quote,
  explain to the reader why you have done so and
  why this particular quote is important.

• Complete the table on quotations.
• Explain what they tell us about the appropriate
  character.
• Find a quotation from the text which suggests the
  explanation.
