The Cat and the Rat

  • Setting
  • China more than 5,000 years ago
  • Conflict
  • Emperor of China decided to hold a race among the
    animals in the land.
  • The prize for the first twelve animals to cross
    the finish line is a year in the Chinese zodiac.
  • Cat and Rat are two of the smallest animals in
    the race and their conflict is how to out smart
    others to win the race.

  • Emperor- sets up the race for the zodiac
  • Cat- resourceful and positive, comes up with a
    plan to win the race by catching a ride on the
    back of Buffalo. She gets tricked by Rat when she
    wakes up and Rat pushes her into the water. In
    the end loses the race
  • Rat- tricky mean greedy friend who pushes cat
    into the water, wins the race by deceit. Cat and
    Rat are forever enemies after this race.
