  • The anterior lobe secretes two major hormones
    interferes with the ovarian cycles of females.
    These are
  • Follicle stimulating hormone Stimulate the
    development of ovarian follicle and the
    production of oestrogen hormone by follicle
    cells.
  • Luteinizing stimulating hormone Stimulate
    ovulation and formation of the corpus luteum and
    production of progesterone hormone.

Ovarian Cycles
  • The ovary possess two main ovarian cycles
  • Follicular Phase Growth maturation of oogonia
    into mature ova under stimulation of FSH.
    Development of the ovarian follicles is
    characterized by 1. Growth and differentiation
    of a primary oocyte. 2. Proliferation of
    follicular cells. 3. Formation of zona pellucida.
    4.Development of a connective tissue capsule ,
    the theca folliculi.
  • Luteal Phase Formation of corpus luteum which
    is responsible for secretion of progesterone
    during the first stage of gestation.
