What is communication?
  • Communication is the exchange and flow of
    information and ideas from one person to another.
    It involves a sender transmitting an idea to a
    receiver

Now, what is EFFECTIVE Communication?
  • Effective communication occurs only if the
    receiver understands the exact information or
    idea that the sender intended to transmit.

When is this useful??
  • Assess job candidates based on their nonverbal
    communication. You can read volumes from how the
    applicant sits in the lobby.
  • The nonverbal communication during an interview
    should also elucidate the candidates skills,
    strengths, weaknesses, and concerns for you.

When else is this useful??
  • When leading a meeting, speaking to a group, or
    talking with peers recognize that nonverbal cues
    can tell you --when youve talked long
    enough, --when someone else wants to speak, and
    --the mood of the crowd and their reaction
    to your remarks.
  • Listen to their nonverbal feedback and youll be
    a better leader and speaker.
