What is Core Studies 2?
  • Core studies 2 is your second Psychology exam
    paper on the core studies.
  • There are two sections section A and section B
  • You must answer one question from section A and
    one question from section B.
  • The exam lasts one hour.

Example Section B Question
  • A number of studies take a developmental
    approach to the study of psychological processes.
    This approach looks at human behaviour and
    experience in people of different ages and
    attempts to describe how thoughts behaviour
    develop. Using the core studies listed, answer
    the questions that follow.
  • Samuel and Bryant (conservation)
  • Bandura, Ross and Ross (aggression)
  • Hodges and Tizard (social relationships)
  • Freud (little Hans)

  • Using examples, give four problems psychologists
    may have when they study development (12)

How should I answer part a) ?
  • Read the question!
  • Use words from the question to frame your answer.
  • Write about what each study tells us in separate
    paragraphs (you should end up with four).
  • You should give an example about what each study
    tells us (usually from the studys results).
  • Each study you describe gets a maximum of 3 marks.

  • Part b) involves evaluation issues. What are the

  • Lead with the evaluation issue, and explain why
    it is a problem/strength by relating it to a
    study from the list.
  • Each issue should be placed in a separate

  • Each problem/strength you discuss gets a maximum
    of 3 marks.
