Creating effective goals for AP are no different
than any other school goals
6
Step 1 Set Goals Teachers, administrators,
county personnel must agree on specific,
attainable goals. Data analysis shapes decisions.
7
STEP 2 STRATEGIZE TEACHERS, ADMINISTRATORS,
COUNTY PERSONNEL MUST AGREE ON SPECIFIC,
ATTAINABLE STRATEGIES TO REACH GOALS. NO IDEA IS
TOO SIMPLE, THE MORE COMPLEX THE STRATEGY, THE
MORE DIFFICULT THE IMPLEMENTATION.
8
Step 3 Implement Teachers, administrators,
county personnel must meet/communicate with each
other consistently to incorporate
strategies. All members of PLCs must have buy
in/support. (Stipends, Volunteers, etc)
9
Step 4 Monitor Administrators and county
personnel must monitor, using pre-determined
data, the success of the PLC original plan for
additional success. Modifications are a must.
Changes do not mean failure!
10
Step 5 Reflect Teachers, administrators and
county personnel must reflect on the results of
the program. This is not the end!
11
Begin a Plan What are your goals? Why? What
strategies can you use to accomplish goals? How
do you create buy in? What data can be monitored
to determine effectiveness? Who will
monitor? Who can help reflect on the
effectiveness and set new goals?
