Meet 13 year old Meena.

Meena works and goes to school.

She rises early in the morning to go to work at a
factory and weave carpets.

She learned to weave from her mother. Her
mother, in turn, learned from her mother.

After several hours at work, Meena leaves the
factory in the afternoon to go to school. Her
day at school is not finished until the sun has
set.

Meena has no time for sports or music practice.
She must work to help her family earn money.

However, the carpets that Meena makes are very
important to her country and her culture.

These carpets are not just for covering the
floor. These carpets are also used for chairs,
beds, and prayer mats.

Much of Meenas country shares the same religion
and uses the carpets for prayer mats.
