All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for
teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in
righteousness, so that the man of God may be
thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2

Reading a Bible passage
  • What does the passage mean today?
  • What is a similar situation today?
  • A specific teaching about God etc.?
  • Is there an example to follow, or a warning, or a
    promise?
  • What actions need to be taken?

  • What did it mean to the original readers?
  • What is the main point or teaching?
  • How does it compare to other passages?
  • Can a general principle be extracted?
