EXAMPLE
  • Do you or a friend enjoy video games?
  • Is there any element of violence in the game?
  • In a recent study 357 seventh and eighth
grade students were examined as to video game
playing. The adolescents were asked to identify
their preference among five categories of video
games. The two most preferred categories were
games that involved fantasy and violence,
preferred by almost 32 of subjects (Funk).

Students Need Rest
  • Research shows that you can make yourself more
alert reduce stress and improve cognitive
functioning with a nap. Mid-day sleep, or a
power nap, means more patience, less stress,
better reaction time, increased learning, more
    efficiency and better health (Britannica).
  • Suppose that students get to school at 845
and go home at 410. That is about 7 hours and
30 minutes at school. The usual amount homework
for the typical middle school student takes about
2 hours! If your in an after school programs
thats another one hour. Before you go to that
program you need energy. A healthy and filling
diner usually takes about an hour. All of this
schedule leaves no time for power naps and
leaves students tired when its finally time for
    homework.

EXAMPLE
Buying a School Uniform is Cheaper
  • The fear of being un-cool has upended apparel
shopping habits for the 7.6 billion back to
    school shopping season (Beckham).
  • Kids are so worried about how they need the
coolest and best clothes theyre willing to wait
until school starts to buy the newest clothes.
Children all over are spending hundreds of
dollars on their wardrobes for school.
  • If everyone could buy one simple uniform they
would spend much less money and wouldn't worry
about their appearance as much as they would if
    they didnt wear uniforms.

Opposing Stance
EXAMPLE
  • Some other arguments that the opposing
    side may say are
  • Students will get frequent breaks with year round
    schooling
  • You still receive a summer vacation
  • There is less time lost trying to review material
forgotten over the long summer break.
  • That Season of forgetting has been
reduced, so we can spend less time reviewing and
can cover more material right away, said Steve
    Knighton, principal at Piedmont Elementary
    School.

Rebuttal
EXAMPLE
  • Yes, homework could bring up a grade, but when
you think about it, kids who dont do their
homework will probably have a bad grade in that
    class.
  • If they studied more instead of homework they
might have a better grade than expected.
  • Did you know that 42 of kids asked said that
their parents did their parents did their
homework for them (Our Homework Headache).
  • Slacking off is never good.

appealing to your local school district about
    homework overload
  • Would you like to feel burned out about coming to
school for the rest of your schooling career?
