• Abiotic (nonliving) and biotic (living) features
  and nutrients make up the environment

• Rocks and soil

• Population-group of individuals of the same
  species living in the same geographical area
• Community-consists of all of the organisms of all
  the species that inhabit a particular area an
  assemblage of populations

• Ecosystem-consists of all the abiotic factors in
  addition to the entire community of species that
  exist in a certain area
• The emphasis is on energy flow and chemical
  cycling among the biotic and abiotic components

• Biosphere- the global ecosystem (the sum of all
  the planets ecosystem
• Biome- major types of ecological associations
  that occupy broad geographic regions
