Adaptations
An Adaptation is how an animal lives. It adapts
to its surroundings by blending in with objects
like its color. For example the Arctic Wolf
blends in with the snow cause the wolf is White
4
Species Adaptations and Individual Adaptations
A species adaptation is how the whole species
adapts to their surroundings for example the
whole species of Arctic Wolves blend in with the
snow.
An individual adaptation is when only one animal
in the species adapts differently. For example if
all the arctic wolves blend in with snow while
one of them hide in bushes
5
Camouflage, hibernation, migration, and mimicry.
Hibernation is when an animal goes underground to
sleep for the winter. For example the grizzly
bear goes underground to sleep for the winter.
Camouflage is when animals blend in with their
surroundings. For example the arctic hare blends
in with the snow.
Migration is when animals move to one place to
another. For example geese fly south for the
winter.
Mimicry is when an animal sounds like another
animal. For example a type of caterpillar makes
its head to look like a snake head.

Genetics and heredity
Genetics is something that you inherit from
someone your related to for example. If you have
brown eyes and your dad has brown eyes you get
brown eyes because your dad has the stronger gene.
Heredity is a characteristic that you get from
your parents. For example if you get anger issues
and if your parents have anger issues you get
that characteristic from your parents.
7
Inherited Traits
Inherited traits is a characteristic that you get
from somebody.
Example 1
A bee flies.
Example 2
A fish swims
Example 3
A camel has humps
8
Non inherited traits
A non inherited trait is something you dont get
from something.
Example 1
A dog rolls over
Example 2
You teach a dog to shake
9
fossils
Fossils are parts of an animal that lived
millions of years ago. They tell us what kind of
animal they are and what types of animals where
around at that time. Fossils provide us with
clues about the past with animals.

I am researching the arctic wolf.
I am researching the arctic wolf because they are
my favorite animal. I like them because they can
survive in the wild, and they are fun to play
with to! If you hear a wolf howl try howling back
and see what happens!

Habitat/Environment
Habitat
Environment
Arctic Wolves live in Alaska,Greenland, and
Northern Canada.
Arctic Wolves live in snowy and sometimes
non-snowy areas
12
Arctic Wolf Traits
The arctic wolf can adapt to the wild by finding
ways to survive. The wolf can run really fast
without getting tired. The arctic wolf blends in
with the snow cause the animal is white and so is
the snow. The wolf has many ways of adapting to
its surroundings.
13
Structures/Function
The arctic Wolfs strong muscles help them run as
fast as they can to catch prey. The arctic wolfs
strong jaw helps them chew their food. The arctic
wolfs fur helps them blend in with the snow.
14
Fun facts
Another name for the arctic wolf is snow wolf
they are the only wolves that are not on the
endangered species list
Arctic wolves come in several different colors
from red to gray
Arctic wolves tolerate living in darkness for 5
