Focus Nurses at time of license renewal voluntarily participate in Maine Minimum Data set questionnaire. Data reported in two year cycles, dating back to 2001. Partnership Interface All of the Maine Minimum Data Set reports are posted on the USM nursing program website.
8Name of Report/Initiative Workforce Data Information Maine DOL Workforce Analysis of Maines Health Services Sector Stakeholders Maine DOL Focus Maine Legislature charged the DOL to complete a comprehensive health occupations report every 4 years. Partnership Interface Report publically available, will serve as a resource to legislators and the Governor. One Maine Health Collaborative members, through the healthcare workforce forum, provided input into this report.

Partnership Interface Healthcare organizations and nursing programs area are active participants with the grant project. The project will support 50 associate and 50 baccalaureate degree graduates and support faculty to obtain masters. DOL is approving applicants.

Focus is on 6 key areas Leadership, Workforce Data, Pipeline/Supply, Financial Resources, Workforce Utilization Effectiveness Emerging Needs.
12Name of Report/Initiative Workforce Data Information/ Initiatives HRSA Grant to Develop Comprehensive Nursing Strategic Plan for Maine Stakeholders MSBON, OMNE, PEP Focus 148,500 HRSA Appropriation Grant to create an education and workforce strategic plan for nursing in Maine. Partnership Interface EMHS provides project coordinator support to the HRSA grant. HRSA grant work will coordinated with the DOL/MJC healthcare strategic planning grant and the RWJ grant.
13Name of Report/Initiative Workforce Data Information Initiatives RWJ Partners in Nursing Grant Award Stakeholders Bingham Foundation, Maine Partners in Education and Practice Collaborative OMNE ANA-Me Focus 200,000 matching grant from Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Partners in Nursing Program. Maine project to partner nursing education and practice to adopt consistent core competencies for nursing education and entry into practice. Partnership Interface One Maine Health Collaborative is a funding supporter of the grant project. EMHS provides project coordinator support to the grant. MMC, Pen Bay Medical Center VPs for Nursing, UNE, USM, SMCC and St. Josephs College and UMO faculty serve on the grant leadership team. One Maine Health collaborative members and nursing education programs serve on the statewide Maine Partners in Education and Practice collaborative.
14Name of Report/Initiative Workforce Data Information Initiatives University of Maine System Nursing Collaborative Stakeholders All University of Maine System Nursing programs UM USM UMFK UMA Focus Build relationships among nursing faculty staff across the UM Systems nursing programs create common processes to enable system nursing education programs to achieve economies of effort and scale develop a 3-5 year strategic plan for UMS nursing education develop needs assessment and curriculum for online MS in nursing education to utilize resources from all four campuses and meet the needs of the state for nursing faculty. Partnership Interface Reports and progress to be monitored my UMS BOT and Vice Chancellor. Funds obtained from UMS Strategic Investment Fund, established as part of the New Challenges, New Directions initiative to achieve long-term financial sustainability for the states public universities.

Identify opportunities for improving seamless transitions of education progression. 28We Can Celebrate Nursing Excellence as Maine
Nurses are Doing an Incredible Job
So...what is an RFIP? A Request for Innovative
Proposals.After the research phases of the
MPNEP work are completed, as described in the
Work Plan and minutes of our meetings (see
WorkPlan/Minutes Page), MPNEP will be issuing
RFIPs for proposals to put the core nursing
competencies for the Nurse of the Future to the
test. MPNEP is looking for artistic and
sustainable ways to improve nursing care in the
future. We want to give recognition for those who
are looking beyond the perimeters and reaching
far down the road. We will select 10-15
Innovations throughout Maine to receive a seed
money grant of 1,000 each. MPNEP is not looking
for huge, bulky processes we are looking for
exciting, innovative projects that will be a
source of pride and excitement to the school,
health care facility or individual who will be
awarded one of the grants. The written RFIPs
will be announced and available on this website
and through other means in May, including an
announcement of the submission date. Award
announcements will be in June 2011.Please keep
