and the people who live on it. Geography helps
us to understand history by seeing how the
characteristics of a place affect people events
(i.e. battles, exploration)

• Where something is positioned on the Earth's
  surface where events take place
• latitude,longitude coordinates exact/absolute
• In relation to another place relative

• What an area is like
• Physical human characteristics
• i.e. Hilly, flat, lots of trees, barren
• i.e. Mostly white population, mostly Hispanic
• i.e. Wealthy, poor, middle class
• i.e. college educated, hs diplomas

Region

• A large area w/similar features characteristics
• Land forms, climate, culture
• i.e. New England, Southwest

Movement

• People - migration
• Goods resources import, export
• Ideas religion, food spices, horse harness
• Cultural diffusion when ideas, inventions,
  beliefs from one culture seep into and are
  adopted by another culture.

Human Interaction with Environment

• How the environment affects how people live
• How people use natural resources
• Adapt change human behavior to fit surroundings
• i.e. Igloo, stir fry
• Alter change surroundings to fit human needs
• i.e. Cut down trees for parking lots or farming
