How has a current discovery influenced change

Day One

• Brainstorm areas of discoveries that you wish to
  explore.
• Join a 'home' group of four people to help share
  your work task.  Each team member will need to
  choose a topic of interest (listed below) to help
  them become experts about a type of discovery. 
• Animal Behavior
• Ocean Environment
• Inventions
• Diversity

Day Two

• Once you have identified which discovery you want
  to research, find your new expert team by
  identifying those with the same topic as you
  chose.
• Animal Behavior
• Ocean Environment
• Inventions
• Diversity
• Determine how discoveries have changes our
  society and choose what is good and bad.
  Determine what helps and what hurts.
•   You can share information as a group, but
  every member in the expert group will need their
  own copy of the paper to take back to their
  home group and teach them what information you
  have found.

Day Three

• Now that you are an expert on one of the types of
  discoveries, meet back with your home team
  to share your information.  Listen to each home
  team member so you can make good choices on which
  discovery your team will create a presentation
  on.  The group then votes on the discovery they
  choose to create a presentations on.
• Create a your presentation.

Day Four

• The home group returns to the computers and
  search for reliable information about the
  discovery of their choice. Browse kid friendly
  search engines by typing in key words and viewing
  the list of articles the key words call up, and
  click on articles of interest. Look for details
  in maps, charts, time lines, and diagrams that
  are appropriate to their research topic and
  determine how these discoveries have made changes
  in our society.

• Share what you have learned about your discovery
  in an oral presentation with any accompanying
  visuals. Use compare/contrast, cause/effect, and
  problem solution formats to prepare and present
  their information.
