Audience Profile

• Target audience do you want your magazine to
  target a mainstream or niche audience? Age
  groups? Gender specific?
• Sub genre Pop, Rock, Hip-Hop, RnB,
  Alternative, Metal, Dance, Brass, Classical???
• In the style of NME and Kerrang! press pack
  profiles create a profile of your average
  reader.
• This must include work on Photoshop where you
  arrange a montage of pictures.
• This must also include a write up and demographic
  profile.

• Data Research Instrument
• You must create a questionnaire to go along with
  your Initial Ideas PPT.
• This can be done on Word or Survey Monkey (online
  questionnaire tool). This will need
  linking/uploading to your blog.
• Your questions need to be a mixture of
  quantitative and qualitative questions (write the
  definitions of these on your blog).
• You need to try to find out whether your ideas
  are feasible.

• Data Analysis
• Your tutor will be giving you written feedback on
  a sheet, which can be posted to your blog.
• However you MUST analyse the data from your
  audience feedback.
• You can analyse the quantitative comments easily
  by creating graphs on www.onlinecharttool.com
• You will need to count the responses up and write
  some sentences to explain the results of both
  quantitative and qualitative. You may want to do
  this as a video for extra marks.

• You need to decide what type of music magazine
  you are going to produce and produce a
  Treatment.  Your treatment is an outline what
  your magazine is going to be about.  As such, you
  need to answer the following questions
• What is your magazine's name?
• What genre/subgenre of music is your magazine
  going to cover?
• What is your sell line going to be?
• How much will it cost?
• What will it's frequency be, i.e. will it be
  weekly, fortnightly, monthly, bi-monthly,
  quarterly etc.?
• Who is your target audience?  Subculture, age,
  gender, race, sexuality, social class (mainly
  ABC1s) etc.
• What will your front cover image be?
• What will your cover lines be?
• What other elements will be on your cover?
• What features etc. will appear on your contents
  page?
• What will your double page spread be about?
• Create a Flat Plan (a rough draft) of your
  magazine as part of this process.

• Design Plans
• - Draw out / construct on Word some initial
  design plans for your magazine. These must have
  good ideas about house style fonts, colours,
  cover shot, other pictures, cover lines,
  articles.
• - Anything other than a detailed set of design
  plans will not be accepted and you will not be
  allowed to move on to the next stage of your
  planning.
