AIR WATER SOURCE HEAT PUMPS
AIR SOURCE
WATER SOURCE
4
AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMP
  • Moderate cost
  • Controlled output temperature normally up to 64C
  • Can operate at mains water pressure

5
HOW DOES A HEAT PUMP WORK
  • A heat pump water heater uses the same technology
and mechanical principles as refrigerators and
    air conditioners
  • HPWHs take heat from the surrounding air or other
heat source and uses it to heat low pressure
liquid refrigerant in the heat pumps evaporator
  • The refrigerant then passes through the
compressor which raises the refrigerant pressure
    and the temperature
  • The heated refrigerant gas passes through the
heat pump condenser where it gives off its heat
the water and condenses back into the liquid
    state
  • The refrigerant now passes through an expansion
valve where the pressure is reduced and the cycle
    starts over again

HEAT PUMP CONFIGURATION
7
SYSTEM DESIGN CRITICAL FOR SUCCESFUL PROJECTS
  • System sizing
  • Load profile
  • Demand temperatures
  • Storage design
  • Installation Location

8
LAUNDRY INSTALLATION
  • Hotel Laundry application spot cooling

FACTORS FOR SUCCESSFUL PROJECTS
  • Constant demand for hot water
  • High energy costs (diesel, LPG, electric
    resistance boiler)
  • Reliable conventional energy supply
  • Design storage to limit operation during peak
    charge time
  • Maintenance similar to any refrigeration system
  • Life cycle 15 years or more with correct
    maintenance

13
CONFIGURATION AND INSTALLATION
14
COMMERCIAL APPLICATIONS
  • Industries requiring hot water for processes
  • Hotels, apartments
  • Health centers hospitals
  • Restaurants
  • Sport facilities, schools, shower facilities
  • Free cooling to useful area

15
IN CONCLUSION
  • Based on data provided on its Thermal Energy
Questionnaire and on site survey, for each hotel
    or building, Contained Energy determines
  • The most suitable SWHS, heat pump and other
    equipment configuration
  • The cost savings and return-on-investment
    generated by the proposed solution
  • Contained Energy then offers
  • To supply and install the system, including data
    logging device
  • Split payments and rental/maintenance options
  • Training and after sales services
  • With ROI of mostly less than a year, there is no
more time and money to waste!
