About Us
  • C-FOAM was officially sanctioned as a Research
Cluster in the School of Management of the
University of Ottawa in May 2005.
  • The C-FOAM mandate is to provide analysis of
management, policy, strategic planning, as well
as innovation and governance systems related
specifically to the oceans, marine fisheries, and
    the aquaculture sector.
  • These sectors are significant to Canada for their
    domestic contribution to coastal regions
(Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic) and for defining
Canada's place in international fora on oceans
and marine natural resources governance and
    science.

3
Research topics
  • indicators for defining the state of
    environmental and ecological systems
  • alternative methods for marine resource
    assessment including spatial-temporal fish stock
    assessment methods
  • ecosystem-based management of marine ecosystems
  • analysis of marine species at risk and recovery
    planning of endangered species
  • development of fisheries systems modelling for
decision support and management policy making
  • resource and socioeconomic analysis of
responsible fisheries and "best practices" in
    fisheries and aquaculture management
  • governance structures for integrated oceans
management including the evaluation of regional
    fisheries management organizations (RFMOs)
  • performance measures for defining health and food
    security
