A Lesson in Differentiated Instruction
Mrs. Pettit will present a lesson using scaffolding (by ability) grouping and tiering and choice Remember students need lessons that are understandable, relevant, can be transferred to real life and are meaningful

The Principals New Clothes
  • Listen to story read aloud
  • Listen to student reenact play via video
  • Two levels will be presented but student will not
    know which level is which
  • 3 activities from each level will be available
    for the student to use

Level Red
  • Choose one character from the story. Create a
    bowtie that compares you with the character. Make
    sure to include appearance and personality.
  • Pretend you are Alice. Tell your mother and
    father about the assembly program. Write what you
    would say as a paragraph or as dialogue with your
    parent.
  • What character from the story would you like to
    be? Write a paragraph that tells who you chose
    and why. Illustrate it.

Level Green
  • Write a letter from Mr. Bundy to a friend who
    lives far away. Make sure Mr. Bundy tells his
    friend about his new clothes and what he learned.
  • Pretend you are Alice.tell your mother or father
    about the assembly program. Write what you would
    say as a paragraph or a skit to be acted out.
  • Moe and Ivy have moved to a new town. Create an
    advertisement for the local paper for clothes
    they want to make and sell.
