Title: There is only one kind of restoration that pleases God.

1
There is only one kind of restoration that
pleases God.
  • God restores the heart of people. (Psa 231-3)

2
There is only one kind of restoration that
pleases God.
  • Psalm 231-3 (NKJV) - The Lord is my shepherd
I shall not want. 2 He makes me to lie down in
green pastures He leads me beside the still
waters. 3 He restores my soul He leads me in the
paths of righteousness For His names sake.

3
There is only one kind of restoration that
pleases God.
  • Anything less than this is to play religion and
    to play church. (Joel 212-13)

4
What are we Offering to God?
  • Joel 212-13 (NKJV) - Now, therefore, says the
LORD, Turn to Me with all your heart,With
fasting, with weeping, and with mourning. 13 So
rend your heart, and not your garments Return to
the LORD your God, For He is gracious and
merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness
And He relents from doing harm.

5
What are we Offering to God?
  • What does God see in your heart?

6
What are we Offering to God?
  • What does God see in your heart?
  • As a fruit of restored hearts we find obedience
    to God in all things.

7
What are we Offering to God?
  • What does God see in your heart?
  • As a fruit of restored hearts we find obedience
    to God in all things.
  • What should the local church be like? A restored
heart will want to know and make corrections.

8
What are we Offering to God?
  • Is it unspiritual to talk about the one true
church or point out the differences between
denominational practices and what our head wants?
    NO!

9
What are we Offering to God?
  • Is it unspiritual to talk about the one true
church or point out the differences between
denominational practices and what our head wants?
    NO!
  • Where is our emphasis when we say these things,
the head or us? (Col 218-19)

10
What are we Offering to God?
  • Colossians 218-19 (NKJV) - Let no one cheat you
of your reward, taking delight in false humility
and worship of angels, intruding into those
things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by
his fleshly mind, 19 and not holding fast to the
Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit
together by joints and ligaments, grows with the
    increase that is from God.

11
What are we Offering to God?
  • Are you in need of a restored heart?

12
What are we Offering to God?
  • Are you in need of a restored heart?
  • Just as we see in spring a renewal and revival of
life, we too can have our hearts drift from
fervent service to Him. (Hos 147)

13
What are we Offering to God?
  • Hosea 147 (NKJV) Those who dwell under his
shadow shall return They shall be revived like
grain, And grow like a vine. Their scent shall be
    like the wine of Lebanon.

14
What are we Offering to God?
  • How does one come out of the spiritual doldrums
    and have this needed revival?

15
We must have our sight renewed.
  • Will the real blind man please stand up? (Jn
    932-41)

16
We must have our sight renewed.
  • John 932-41 (NKJV) - Since the world began it
has been unheard of that anyone opened the eyes
of one who was born blind. 33 If this Man were
not from God, He could do nothing. 34 They
answered and said to him, You were completely
born in sins, and are you teaching us? And they
    cast him out.

17
We must have our sight renewed.
  • 35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out and
when He had found him, He said to him, Do you
believe in the Son of God? 36 He answered and
said, Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in
Him? 37 And Jesus said to him, You have both
seen Him and it is He who is talking with you.

18
We must have our sight renewed.
  • 38 Then he said, Lord, I believe! And he
worshiped Him. 39 And Jesus said, For judgment I
have come into this world, that those who do not
see may see, and that those who see may be made
blind. 40 Then some of the Pharisees who were
with Him heard these words, and said to Him, Are
    we blind also?

19
We must have our sight renewed.
  • 41 Jesus said to them, If you were blind, you
would have no sin but now you say, We see.
    Therefore your sin remains.

20
We must have our sight renewed.
  • Will the real blind man please stand up? (Jn
    932-41)
  • Self-deception is easy. (Jer 179-10)

21
We must have our sight renewed.
  • Jeremiah 179-10 (NKJV) - The heart is
deceitful above all things, And desperately
wicked Who can know it? 10 I, the LORD, search
the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every
man according to his ways, According to the fruit
    of his doings.

22
We must have our sight renewed.
  • Jesus spoke of blindness. (Jn 932-41)
  • Self-deception is easy. (Jer 179-10)
  • Opening hearts is dangerous business.
    (Acts 237 754)

23
We must have our sight renewed.
  • Acts 237 (NKJV) - Now when they heard this,
they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and
the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what
    shall we do?

24
We must have our sight renewed.
  • Acts 754 (NKJV) - When they heard these things
they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at
    him with their teeth.

25
We must have our sight renewed.
  • Revival is ... God revealing himself to man in
awful holiness and irresistible power.... If we
find a revival that is not spoken against, we had
better look again to ensure that it is a
    revival.

26
We must have our sight renewed.
  • Jesus spoke of blindness. (Jn 932-41)
  • Self-deception is easy. (Jer 179-10)
  • Opening hearts is dangerous business.
    (Acts 237 754)
  • Only the humble can profit. (Isa 5715)

27
We must have our sight renewed.
  • Isaiah 5715 (NKJV) - For thus says the High and
Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is
Holy I dwell in the high and holy place, With
him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To
revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive
the heart of the contrite ones.

28
We must have our sight renewed.
  • This is how suffering helps us. (Ex.
Discontentment in life always has a spiritual
root. Look to your spiritual foundations first.)

29
We must have our sight renewed.
  • This is how suffering helps us. (Ex.
Discontentment in life always has a spiritual
root. Look to your spiritual foundations first.)
  • The humble man will welcome an open Bible. He
    will listen.

30
We must have our sight renewed.
  • What is the greatest danger for the church here?

31
We must have our sight renewed.
  • What is the greatest danger for the church here?
  • That we let our prosperity and education put us
    to sleep. (Rev 314-19)

32
We must have our sight renewed.
  • Revelation 314-19 (NKJV) - And to the angel of
the church of the Laodiceans write, These things
says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the
Beginning of the creation of God 15 I know your
works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could
wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because
you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I
will vomit you out of My mouth.

33
We must have our sight renewed.
  • 17 Because you say, I am rich, have become
wealthy, and have need of nothingand do not
know that you are wretched, miserable, poor,
blind, and naked18 I counsel you to buy from Me
gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich
and white garments, that you may be clothed, that
the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed
and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may
    see.

34
We must have our sight renewed.
  • 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten.
    Therefore be zealous and repent.

35
We must have our sight renewed.
  • History has show that the larger, prosperous
churches in the cities are the leaders in every
    apostasy. Why is this?

36
We must have our sight renewed.
  • History has show that the larger, prosperous
churches in the cities are the leaders in every
    apostasy. Why is this?
  • If we are going to be the exception we are going
    to have to be exceptional!

37
We must see God anew
  • If we were truly converted to Christ we were
    moved by Gods glory.

38
We must see God anew
  • If we were truly converted to Christ we were
    moved by Gods glory.
  • Satans game plan is to keep you from seeing God.
    (2 Cor 43-4)

39
We must see God anew
  • 2 Corinthians 43-4 (NKJV) - But even if our
gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are
perishing, 4 whose minds the god of this age has
blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of
the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the
image of God, should shine on them.

40
We must see God anew
  • Many are converted to local churches and the men
    in them. (2 Cor 45-6)

41
We must see God anew
  • 2 Corinthians 45-6 (NKJV) - For we do not
preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and
ourselves your bondservants for Jesus sake. 6
For it is the God who commanded light to shine
out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to
give the light of the knowledge of the glory of
God in the face of Jesus Christ.

42
We must see God anew
  • We serve an awesome God. Do you see Him? If so
    your heart will be moved.

43
We must see God anew

    your heart will be moved.
  • Consider from Psalms 119 the things about God
    that revives us.

44

    testimony of Your mouth.

mercies, O LORD Revive me according to Your
    judgments.

50

  • Psalm 367 (NKJV) - How precious is Your
lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of
men put their trust under the shadow of Your
    wings.

to Your lovingkindness O LORD, revive me
    according to Your justice.

53
We must see God anew

    317-18)

54
We must see God anew
  • Psalm 119156 (NKJV) - Great are Your tender
mercies, O LORD Revive me according to Your
    judgments.

55
We must see God anew
  • 1 Samuel 317-18 (NKJV) - And he said, What is
the word that the LORD spoke to you? Please do
not hide it from me. God do so to you, and more
also, if you hide anything from me of all the
things that He said to you. 18 Then Samuel told
him everything, and hid nothing from him. And he
said, It is the LORD. Let Him do what seems good
    to Him.

56
We must see God anew
  • Worship can keep our hearts renewed.

57
We must see God anew
  • Worship can keep our hearts renewed.
  • The right kind of worship will open hearts. (Psa
    7314-17)

58
We must see God anew
  • Psalm 7314-17 (NKJV) - For all day long I have
been plagued, And chastened every morning. 15 If
I had said, I will speak thus, Behold, I would
have been untrue to the generation of Your
children. 16 When I thought how to understand
this, It was too painful for me 17 Until I went
into the sanctuary of God Then I understood
    their end.

59
We must see God anew
  • Why do we give such emphasis to the Lords
    supper? (2 Pt 19 Gal 31)

60
We must see God anew
  • 2 Peter 19 (NKJV) - For he who lacks these
things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and
has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old
    sins.

61
We must see God anew
  • Galatians 31 (NKJV) - foolish Galatians! Who
has bewitched you that you should not obey the
truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly
    portrayed among you as crucified?

62
We must see God anew
  • Jesus Christ is unique, and one cannot be in his
presence and not reveal the man he really is.
Jesus pulls each person from behind his mask. In
the exposure of that bleeding love on the cross,
men become what they really are.

63
We must see God anew
  • You may think you are wonderful until you stand
in the presence of the One who is purity itself.
It is the pure light of God that pierces a man.
You can keep up your pretense of being holy until
you stand in that light. Then immediately there
is nowhere to hide, all your masks are torn away,
all your hollow smiles fade. Revival means to be
exposed for what we are. The presence of the Lord
    is revealing.

64
We must see God anew
  • If you do not see yourself before God today then
you need to learn how to worship.

65
We must see God anew
  • If you do not see yourself before God today then
you need to learn how to worship.
  • Are you focused on the presence of others or of
    God?

66
We must see God anew
  • If you do not see yourself before God today then
you need to learn how to worship.
  • Are you focused on the presence of others or of
    God?
  • Do you approach this time in a casual way both in
your heart and by your dress?

67
We must see God anew
  • One of the great challenge by our young who are
raised by Christians is to learn the reverence of
this occasion and make the common uncommon.

68
We Need Conviction
  • Gods word is powerful when it is unleashed. (Jn
    168-11)

69
We Need Conviction
  • John 168-11 (NKJV) - And when He has come, He
will convict the world of sin, and of
righteousness, and of judgment 9 of sin, because
they do not believe in Me 10 of righteousness,
because I go to My Father and you see Me no more
11 of judgment, because the ruler of this world
    is judged.

70
We Need Conviction
  • Do you really want this? Jesus will overturn many
tables in the hearts of men.

71
We Need Conviction
  • Do you really want this? Jesus will overturn many
tables in the hearts of men.
  • Many will be mad.

72
We Need Conviction
  • Do you really want this? Jesus will overturn many
tables in the hearts of men.
  • Many will be mad.
  • Who did God call on to restore His people so they
    might receive Jesus? (Mk 911-13)

73
We Need Conviction
  • Mark 911-13 (NKJV) - And they asked Him,
saying, Why do the scribes say that Elijah must
come first? 12 Then He answered and told them,
Indeed, Elijah is coming first and restores all
things. And how is it written concerning the Son
of Man, that He must suffer many things and be
treated with contempt? 13 But I say to you that
Elijah has also come, and they did to him
whatever they wished, as it is written of him.

74
We Need Conviction
  • Could John the Baptist preach here? (Mt 32,7-10)

75
We Need Conviction
  • Matthew 32 (NKJV) - and saying, Repent, for
the kingdom of heaven is at hand!

76
We Need Conviction
  • Matthew 37-10 (NKJV) - But when he saw many of
the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his
baptism, he said to them, Brood of vipers! Who
warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8
Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance, 9 and
do not think to say to yourselves, We have
Abraham as our father. For I say to you that God
is able to raise up children to Abraham from
    these stones.

77
We Need Conviction
  • 10 And even now the ax is laid to the root of the
trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear
good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

78
We Need Conviction
  • Could the Pharisees have called John a
    brotherhood watchdog?

79
We Need Conviction
  • Could the Pharisees have called John a
    brotherhood watchdog?
  • How we respond to current controversies will show
    much about us.

80
We Need Conviction
  • Conviction does not come from a casual approach
    to God.

81
We Need Conviction
  • Conviction does not come from a casual approach
    to God.
  • Does our worship challenge the hearts of all
    here? (1 Cor 1424-25)

82
We Need Conviction
  • 1 Corinthians 1424-25 (NKJV) - But if all
prophesy, and an unbeliever or an uninformed
person comes in, he is convinced by all, he is
convicted by all. 25And thus the secrets of his
heart are revealed and so, falling down on his
face, he will worship God and report that God is
    truly among you.

83
We Need Conviction
  • What kind of preaching do you want? Elders have a
great responsibility in this area. (Acts 2027-28)

84
We Need Conviction
  • Acts 2027-28 (NKJV) - For I have not shunned to
declare to you the whole counsel of God. 28
Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the
flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you
overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He
    purchased with His own blood.

85
We Need Conviction
  • Are we looking for something new for the sake of
    newness?

86
We Look to Renew Others
  • Are you involved with others? If so does your
life have an influence? (Mt 513-16)

87
We Look to Renew Others
  • Matthew 513-16 (NKJV) - You are the salt of
the earth but if the salt loses its flavor, how
shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing
but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by
men. 14You are the light of the world. A city
that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do
they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but
on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are
    in the house.

88
We Look to Renew Others
  • 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they
may see your good works and glorify your Father
    in heaven.

89
We Look to Renew Others
  • What things cause our lives to be an influence?

90
We Look to Renew Others
  • You and I are to be such that as we walk up and
down the streets of life, people will be struck
and attracted. You have seen them turn and look
at a well-dressed person. ... They should be
struck by us, and look at us, and think, "What is
this person? I have never seen anybody quite
    like this before!" ...

91
We Look to Renew Others
  • That is the kind of people we can be and the kind
of people that we must be. And when we become
such people, believe me, the revival we are
longing for will start, and the people outside,
in their misery and wretchedness, will come in
and will want to know about it. -- D. Martyn
Lloyd-Jones in Growing in the Spirit.

92
We Look to Renew Others
  • Can the half-hearted Christian influence anyone?
    Unfortunately yes.

93
We Look to Renew Others
  • Can the half-hearted Christian influence anyone?
    Unfortunately yes.
  • Parents, what would your Children say is most
    important to you?

94
We Look to Renew Others
  • Can the half-hearted Christian influence anyone?
    Unfortunately yes.
  • Parents, what would your Children say is most
    important to you?
  • If you are renewed you will be zealous. (Rev
    318-19)

95
We Look to Renew Others
  • Revelation 318-19 (NKJV) - I counsel you to buy
from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be
rich and white garments, that you may be
clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not
be revealed and anoint your eyes with eye salve,
that you may see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke
and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.

96
We Look to Renew Others
  • Do you know of any zealous Christians here? Do
you know of any who are not
    zealous? Where do you fit?

97
We Look to Renew Others
  • Do you know of any zealous Christians here? Do
you know of any who are not
    zealous? Where do you fit?
  • Which is better, zeal without knowledge of
    knowledge without zeal? (Rom 101-2)

98
We Look to Renew Others
  • Romans 101-2 (NKJV) - Brethren, my hearts
desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they
may be saved. 2 For I bear them witness that they
have a zeal for God, but not according to
    knowledge.

99
We Look to Renew Others
  • Why are home studies effective? It is because of
what we hear and what we see. Word
    and example

100
We Look to Renew Others
  • Are you a zealous person? If no, then when are
you going to repent? (Tit 214)

101
We Look to Renew Others
  • Titus 214 (NKJV) - who gave Himself for us,
that He might redeem us from every lawless deed
and purify for Himself His own special people,
    zealous for good works.

102
We Look to Renew Others
  • Are you a part of Gods restoration movement?
    (Acts 319-21)

103
We Look to Renew Others
  • Acts 319-21 (NKJV) - Repent therefore and be
converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so
that times of refreshing may come from the
presence of the Lord, 20 and that He may send
Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, 21
whom heaven must receive until the times of
restoration of all things, which God has spoken
by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the
    world began.
