  • Puritans gave importance to direct teaching of
Bible. It was God's true law and it provided a
    plan for living.
  • Puritans didnt want a mediation, they wanted a
direct relationship with God without the confines
    of church authority.
  • They believed that man existed for the glory of
    God
  • They worked a lot because they believed in
    progress.
  • Puritans believed in the doctrine of
predestination that kept all Puritans constantly
working to do good in this life to be chosen and
    to be saved.

Basic concept of Puritan Ideology
  • They believed in the Parable of the Talents
  • Puritans were against every kind of entertainment
    and disapproved celebrations because they
    distracted people from spiritual dimension.
  •    They believed in the doctrine
of predestination but salvation was in part the
    product of human choice.

They claimed sobriety of vestments worn by
priest in virtue of austere life.
The Protestant work ethic was the belief that
hard work was an honour to God.
