Title: Social Economic Development a presentation for the seminar on socioeconomic development in the light
1 Social Economic Developmenta presentation for
the seminar on socio-economic development in the
light of dwindeling oil supply
- A far fetched concept for future
- Wim Mallon
2Some observation
- Current situation is unique in history
- Energy, there is no easy to scoop upp solution
- Climate
- Food
- Finance
- Water
- Power distribution
- .
- All GLOBAL Issues
3Also
- Communism has failed (but for Cuba, where the
calendar failed) - Capitalism has failed (recently)
- Muslim banking more or less still standing
- Different principle
- But
- Fundamental laws are questioned (why should I)
- Quiz what system will fail next?
- Economical system
- Technical systems
- Management systems
- Interest of youth
4What is going on?
- Virtually all systems have collapsed
- and more to come
- Nobody has any idea what to do
- And if someone has an idea, it will be challenged
- New systems are needed
- Who will provide the blue print?
5Further
- There is great stress on global systems
- Academia are absent in the discussion
- Politics has no clue what is going on
- Religious leaders are silent
- quote
- the system as we knew it does not work anymore
- unquote
6Some positive developments
- Coordinated efforts on financial system
- Discussion on global scale
- New American president
7Proposal for a model of thinking
- Can we distinguish a hierarchy in the abstract
level of problems - What is intervening with what, what has absolute
priority - It is an order of magnitude more complicated than
we think - Letss try
8Order of things (e.g. Energy)
Mechanical processes
Social processes
Values and Culture - spiritual processes
9Consequences
- Failure to solve mechanical issues will create
social issues - Failure to solve social issues will create
cultural spiritual issues - Early warning signals can be seen if you look
closely - Riots for expensive food
- Upraise for expensive energy (truckers,
fishermen)
10How to connect this
- What is the central theme here?
- What is needed is a radical new (global) system
- Global consultation in progress (G20) which is
good - Authority, but voluntarily
- Bottom up top down does not work
- Responsibly
11Some prerequisites
- To serve is the ultimate goal of man
- All people are of same value
- It has to be actively supported by all
- Common understanding of the target
- Spiritual understanding of purpose
12We forget it is all about Man
- Man is currently a slave of the mechanical system
- A spiritual being in a material world
- Lost track of the purpose of life
- Spiritual side neglected in western world
- Institutions are immobile an incapable
- No clue of causality other than material
- Unproved science as leading principle
- (Muddling through very unscientific)
13Current concept
Church
Climate change
Mechanical world
Spiritual world
Causality / plausibility?
Declared non-existent
Financial system
Energy
CO2 change
14What if.
Climate change
Mechanical world
Spiritual world
plausibility
Financial system
Energy
Spiritual laws
CO2 change
15What is needed
- To understand
- that the material world is a mirror of a
spiritual world - That disregarding spiritual laws has material
consequences - That material consequences cannot be solved by
material measures - What the hell are we here for anyway?
In the end this is what it is all about
16A new era
- Current systems are not working predictably
- (some more will be tried in the coming time)
-
- Political influence is part of the current system
- A new approach is badly needed
- Spirituality will take a more prominent position
- What do we need to accept this?
17Some basics needed(first feeble steps can be
seen in G20)
- The oneness of mankind.
- Universal peace upheld by a world government.
- Independent investigation of truth.
- The common foundation of all religions.
- The essential harmony of science and religion.
- Equality of men and women.
- Elimination of prejudice of all kinds.
- Universal compulsory education.
- A spiritual solution to the economic problem.
- A universal auxiliary language.
18Result of this
- Small communities in a global setting
- Top to bottom / grass root approach
- Autonomous
- Cooperative
- Led by previous principles
- Organic growth
- Farming as a leading activity
- More integration of social activities
- Happier people
19Challenges
- Short term ( 5 -10 yrs)
- BUA will be tried as long as it goes
- No fundamental change
- Muddling through
- Trying to get political advantage
- oh yea we will manage
- Growing concern
- Increased power for the haves
- Increased interdependency (which is good),
current situation is condemned to succeed
20Mid term (10-25 yrs)
- Extreme price rises
- Energy
- Food
- Leading to the legitimacy discussion
- Shift in economic balance (eg Europe Russia)
- New valuation of goods
- Real estate
- Geographical region
- Raw materials
- Environment?
21Mid term (2)
- Shift in power
- Number of people (Chindia)
- New political reality
- New economic system
- People will turn away from politics as it has no
answer, disappointment - The CMM laws do not help, progress is ficed in
time (too little too late) - War?
22Long term (Who knows?)some ideas on a stable
situation
- A fundamental new approach for society has to be
installed - A new understanding of well understood egoism
(what is good for him is best for me) - World peace (there just is not enough oil to
fight for and with) - Through force which is not sustainable
- Through free will
- Central command on raw materials
- Fair distribution of wealth
23Long term (2) some more elements
- One currency
- One language
- Global consultation on collective problems
- Global education of people
- Fundamental discussion on values
- Cooperation
- Share knowledge / science
- Accept unity in diversity (human body as
example) - Legitimacy discussion obsolete in consultation on
best use of raw materials - There is no legitimacy discussion in an
atmosphere of service and search for best
solutions
24Where does this lead to in socio economic
development
- Socio-economic development cannot be seen without
spiritual context - Developments on old models are doomed to fail,
they cannot cope with current problems - Scale
- Diversity
- Difference of opinion
- Innovation in social sciences is needed
(Victor) - Focus must be on the post oil (expensive oil) era
- Transition must be the key research area, how to
get there - it is a long way to go and a short time to get
there
25We knew in 1977
- Eastbound and down, loaded up and truckin',
- We're gonna do what they say can't be done.
- We've got a long way to go and a short time to
get there. - I'm eastbound, just watch ol' "Bandit" run
