Psychopharmacology - Accountability

• All behavioral health medications, prescribed by
  HC or Access Plus providers, are reviewed for
  quality and safety of prescribing practices.
• OMHSAS is convening a Behavioral Health Advisory
  Committee for P T decisions

Mayview State Hospital

• Announced Closure of Civil Section of Mayview
  State Hospital on August 15, 2007 Closure
  targeted for Dec. 31, 2008
• 218 Individuals currently served at the Hospital
  admissions remain open
• 504 staff employed at the Hospital job fairs,
  placement activities occurring
• Allegheny, Lawrence, Beaver, Washington Greene
  Counties
• Steering Committee/Advisory Committee

Forensic RFP

• DPW Issued RFP to solicit proposals to privatize
  three forensic units at Warren, Mayview and
  Norristown.
• Would establish an eastern and western inpatient
  site, two non hospital forensic units and two
  forensic treatment teams
• Currently serve 217 individuals at our three
  locations annual admissions are over 500
  average length of stay ranges from slightly over
  70 days to up to under 140 days
• Bids were submitted October 31, 2007 three
  bidders submitted decision expected in early
  2008

HealthChoices P4P

• Pay for Performance Indicators for HC Contracts
  in Southeast, Southwest and Lehigh /Capital Zones
• Continuity of Care indicators, including
  follow-up after discharge for children and
  adults, readmission rates
• Several indicators in development
• Move toward more recovery oriented indicators
• Uniform reporting system across all programs,
• .5 of capitation available

PPLC

• Recovery trained psychiatrists need this
  training as they graduate from residency. These
  fellowships dont exist in Penna but they soon
  will!
• 3 grants were awarded to Psychiatry Residency
  Programs to develop a Community Psychiatry
  Fellowship that has consumers, families and
  advocates providing part of the training. Peer
  support, advocacy, collaboration skills, team
  leadership, are just the beginning of the
  transformation that you asked us for!
